Basic help for a new starter

Postby sicce » Sat Jan 16, 2016 10:55 am

Hallo,

I have an old Tom Tom XL (navcore 8.0.10) and woud like to update the very old western european map (850.2783).

I uderstand I should start by running TTCurrentConfig.exe, I have read the tutorials but... I could not find where to download this file.

I am sure I must have missed something in the post, apologizes for this.
Thanks,
Sicce

tomtom-tools-f127/tomtom-current-configuration-2011-t7501.html

Btw, the up to date version of Western Europe 850.2783 is 960.7075 and is now 1.3GB which obviously won't fit on a 1GB device....unless your XL has an SD card slot?

If not, you'll need to look at a smaller zoned map that'll fit

This is the result of runnign the configuration file

TTGO.BIF:
DeviceName=TomTom XL
DeviceVersionHW=ONE XL (v9)
BootLoaderVersion=55011
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8010
ApplicationVersion=9369
CurrentMap=Western_Europe_1GB
CurrentMapVersion=850.2783
TTGO.BAK:
Not Found...
TTGO.ORI:
Not Found...
TTNAVIGATOR.BIF:
Not Found...

Whats should I do now? I
am happy to stay with my NAVCORE vesione sofwtare, just would need to udpate the west europe map by stayning in the 1GB limit (no additional memory card is available). I found that 960.7057 shoudl be compatible.
Thanks,
Marco

You can download Europe_1GB_West_960_7075 from here
Also download FastActivate and the latest SpeedCam files

Backup your device first then move your old map to your desktop and then extract the new map to the root your device

Next, extract the relevant SpeedCam files into the new map folder on your device (use your old map's SpeedCams as a guide)

Extract FastActivate to the root of your device and run it selecting options 2 then 3, once completed disconnect and reboot it...job done

ok, I began to donwload the map and that will take a while since I can only download 1 file/hour.

I noticed that the 960_7075 map is not campatible with my device for what concerncs Cspeech+ASR.
Will I still be able to have the voices indicating the routes?

The table shows that the map is not compatible with Cspeech+ASR.
but I do not know what this implies.

ASR: Automatic Speech Recognition allows you to speak the city, street name and house number instead of entering the information via the touch screen. This requires your device to have a built-in microphone and to be using a computer voice.

The devices that can use this feature are:

• GO 950/GO 750/GO 550
• GO 940/GO 740/GO 540
• GO 930/GO 730/GO 630/GO 530
• GO 920/GO 720/GO 520
• GO 910/GO 710

Cspeech: These are the files contained within the map needed for ASR.

A One XL doesn't have an inbuilt microphone so there is no need for ASR

I have now donwloaded the map files: it consists of 6 files:
first one is Western Europe 1GB 960.7075_Installer.part1 and then there are other 5 .rar files.

what is the next step?
Thanks,
Marco
p.s.
mt tom tom XL has 1GB memory, so I assume that the folder that I have tor create from the above files will have a size less than 1GB.

so to summarize:
1 connect via usb tom tom XL and back up everyhting (included hidden files) DONE
2 run the file on the pc 1GB 960.7075_Installer.part1 (from the folder where the map files have been downloaded) specifying the root path of the Tom Tom and click install

is that all?
no fast activate thing or similar?
no deleting of map folder on the tomtom before doing this?

Yes, you are correct although you'll need to remove the old map folder from your device to create enough space for the new map to fit

Being as you've downloaded the automatic installer version, it should install, patch the map and patch your navcore all automatically for you...disconnect, restart the device, done.

If after that you want to install the SpeedCams, follow my instructions in post #6

I have just tried to do the isntallation on a folder on the pc and at the end the map folser size is actually 1.26 GB.

Now I will try on the TT.
