Possible global clock issue on Carminat TomTom

Postby smuchac » Tue Apr 21, 2026 5:11 pm

Hi guys!
A few days ago I went for a drive in my 2010 Renault Grand Scenic III and noticed that the clock in the upper-right corner of the navigation screen was no longer showing digits. Instead of the time, it only displays --:--.
I entered the settings menu and tried to set the clock manually. It shows the correct time while adjusting it, but after pressing Done, nothing is saved and the display still shows --:--. The sync option also does not work.
Since then I have tried several things:
-resetting the device
-disconnecting the main car battery
-trying another older SD card that was working before
-deleting the loopdir folder
-updating QuickGPSfix through the TomTom Home application

Unfortunately, nothing helped.
I can also see on many Facebook Renault groups that a lot of people with cars such as Megane, Scenic, Laguna, etc. are experiencing the same issue. It looks like a widespread/global problem.
Yesterday I even bought a used navigation unit for my car, but today I realized that probably will not solve anything either.
Does anyone know what is causing this or if there is any fix available?
Thanks in advance.

GPS quickfix is up to date but it doesn't fix the issue. I deleted contents of ephem folder and downloaded quickgpsfix few minutes ago but no luck also. I think that GPS Week Number Rollover (WNRO) is the main problem for me and for many people in my country since few days ago when everything started.
I found online some fixes for tomtom navigation but for my non live carminat tomtom (8.843) is nothing to find for now.

Thank you for posting this! I thought it was a random traffic setting or something. I had been through every menu trying to fix it.

Just registered to say I have the same issue.
Same car, same model, located in Spain.
I noticed the GPS issue yesterday. No hour shown and the GPS signal is always trying to get a satellite signal (upper right corner)

Anyone knows if some GPS services have been decommissioned or have had issues on these last days?

Or do we have to assume that is a device bug similar to a year 2000 one? Had something similar some years ago but I got it fixed with an update from my car dealer.

One guy is selling a SD card with fix for this issue. I will buy it and if it works i can send you contact if you want to buy it from him. I am not gonna sell it around or share it for free because of his effort to provide solution and because virtually knowing him from another forum years ago.
Updates soon.

This SD card is for Carminat Tomtom R-LINK. Scenic/Megane 2010 is not Rlink version. My megane 3 2010 Carminat have same problem. i think that tomtom make a new Navcore update to fix, but Carminat tomtom is in EOL (end of life)

This is probabbly for R link and Carminat also because i saw on my screen that this is update to 8.843 and my system is already 8.843 but i did it anyway. I was hoping that this will fix my problem. Everything went flawlessly and without glitch as it should but the problem is not solved...
Here are some photos of process today:

Se, setup was compatibile with my system but there is no clock after all...

Hello.

Thanks for reporting this problem. I also have a RENAULT SCENIC III from 2009 and the Carminat started showing the time --:-- .
I can set the time manually because the clock is not synchronized with GPS, but even after this, the time is not shown.

I hope that someone finds a solution for this. I am in Portugal.

Thanks.

Disclaimer:
I cannot guarantee this is a long-term fix or that modifying the file won’t cause any side effects. Use at your own risk.

After searching through multiple forums — especially Renault Forum Serbia and TomTom Forums — I managed to find a working solution. Big thanks to everyone involved.

This fix applies to Renault Scenic III with non-LIVE Carminat TomTom navigation.

Instructions:

-On your SD card, locate the file named PNDNavigator.
Copy it to your PC (for example into a folder called “PND original”) as a backup in case something goes wrong.

-Download and install HxD Hex Editor:

-Open HxD and load the PNDNavigator file (via Open or drag & drop).

-Navigate to offset:

402920 (hex)
At that location, you should see:

D6 07 00 00
Modify it to:

B9 07 00 00
(In practice, this means replacing D6 with B9.)

Example:

Original:

04 00 A0 83 70 A8 1B E9 D6 07 00 00 24 FA FF FF

Modified:

04 00 A0 83 70 A8 1B E9 B9 07 00 00 24 FA FF FF

Save the modified file back to the SD card.
Safely eject the card and insert it into the car.
The clock should now work again.

If something goes wrong
Delete the modified file from the SD card
Restore your original backup
Try again and double-check the offset and values
Good luck :)

There is a quick solution for restoring and setting up the clock; you can watch the video here:

What happens if you don't have the PND navigator file, I have a megane 3 which has the standard Tom Tom not the live version, I had a look at my sd card which is the Europe version and it only displays ttsystem in the root there is no PNDnavigator I had a look at this file with the HEX editor and it does not have line 402920.
Anyone know how to fix this please.
A chap from Poland wants to sell me an updated SD card with a clock fix for £40 seems a bit expensive just to fix a clock that Tom Tom messed up.
