SEE UPDATE TO THIS POST BELOW

I'm running the Europe Truck map on the SD card of a Go 750.
I got a normal Europe region on internal memory.

Specs:
DeviceVersionHW=GO 750 LIVE
ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=9701
TTSystem 8260587 bytes, modified 16-08-2013 23:49
BootLoaderVersion=55279
RDS/TMC 'mctx.dat' size 212 bytes
CurrentMap=Europe_TRUCK_910_4958

The problem is that the Truck map freezes (especially after a reset).
Mostly the map will start up and I can go into the menu with five seconds or so delay.

I can run through main menu and option menu okay but when I go to plan a route it mostly freezes.
Sometimes it doesn't but when I want to specify an address sometimes it can not find any cities.
When inputting of a navigation address does work, home addresses, favourites or recent addresses are not saved when rebooting or resetting. Even POI settings are cleared and set to default.

I can switch maps to and fro without a problem.
Right now I made sure to switch to the non-Truck map before resetting it and that worked flawless.
I could switch to the Truck map and that performed okay without hiccups or freezes.

So it seems there's a small inbalance somewhere.
I tried downunder's 9,701 NC (and the 9,700) but that had roughly the same result.
I also reinstalled the Truck map on the SD card but alas to no avail.
I've run disk checks on both internal and card memory.

Any ideas, please?

UPDATE: I made a clean start by emptying the TT and installing downunders NC 9.701 for X50.
It worked and it performed okay.
I just got into problems again when I copied an old mapsettings.cfg from the old map (v. 870 or so).
Could that be the cause of the instability?
I thought these mapsettings could be copied from between maps if they were from the same region?
Is it perhaps different with truck maps? Perhaps due to the vehicle profile?

Mapsetting.cfg seemed to be the problem causing me to spend one day of tinkling with the TT and the truck maps.

I found this old tendriver post dated March, 27 2012:

'oldfogy' wrote: But I found the problem I was having, which turned out to be a faulty 'MapSettings.cfg' file which I was using to transfer my favourites and other configuration settings. Once the (faulty) MapSettings.cfg file was removed the system worked fine and simply re-created another working MapSettings.cfg file.

1. rebooting after a map update or changes to some map related files like POI's.
It is a common problem caused by the file "mapsettings.cfg" in your map folder.
To get a correct version of this file without loosing your favorites connect your Tomtom to
Tomtom Home and use "operate my Go" to manually add a favorite - you can choose any address you like.
Exit and restart your Tomtom which now has a rewritten "mapsettings.cfg" file.
If everything works fine you can delete the newly added "dummy" favorite.

Just a word of caution and tip to readers of this forum.
Thanks, Tendriver !

I just installed Downunder's 9.701 truck Navcore (via the universal installer) on a Go 730.

Am I crazy or does this (truck navcore) only support a two panel status bar?
I varied some emulations but I keep having a two panel display and not a three panel display.

What are you trying to gain by using Downunder's version of 9.701?

I should've installed 9.701 straight up from TT?

Not necessarily. Thought you might have been looking for a particular feature.

I is just easier to use Downunder's fanfabulastic universal installer to install the Truck NC.
And it has customed installations fitted to the specific TT model.
So that's nice.

In the absence of any (known) caveats: Downunder rulezzz !

You can have both 2 and 3 panel, just add or remove the .1 to the string -> build = 1238656.1
that canbefound in the file fleetecd / ttw.bif (I had to add the .1):thumbup:

I'm pretty sure, steve uk, that I already thanked you for this last year but, once again, thank you very much for your solution to getting a three panel display.

You can also get the 3 panels by setting the emu for a BIG SCREEN (4.3 inchs or larger) unit.

Well, as stated last year, that's where I did not succeed while

worked like a charm.
