Universal Firmware Patcher for Protected Garmin Devices

The device has CN Middle East & N Africa NT 2016.10, CN Europe NTU 2016.30, but when I connect the navigator to the computer I can't find the folder where those maps are located.
I want to upload Europe 2027.10

Do we have any news regarding the compatibility of the Zumo XT2 with unlocked maps? Is there any progress being made?

AFAIK.
Unfortunately it looks like Drive, DriveSmart 52,53,55,65,66,71,76,86, zumo XT ,zumo XT2, Alpha 200i, Montana 700 ,GPSMAP 67 & 67i are all in the same category.
No solution as the Universal Firmware Patcher does not recognise the new encrypted format.

Hi GarminNuvi, :helpsos:

As much as I read these posts and it feels me with knowledge and knowhow, when it comes to actually doing it - I naturally pause with caution.

- I have a newly purchased 66s
- I've confirmed the HWID is 3028 in the garmindevice.xml file
<PartNumber>006-B3028-00</PartNumber>
<Version><Major>10</Major><Minor>70</Minor></Version>
- I've downloaded GPSMAP_66_HWID_3028_10.70_GUPDATE_Patched_JNX.rar
- I've installed the Garmin WebUpdater

I think the question I want to ask is, "do I just literally patch it using that?"

Reason for asking: The OP suggests using other tools, of which the links are dead, and I just want to make sure I don't brick this device before properly using it.

I have a TOPO V2 OS Maps SD card that works in the 66s, but want to use the PRO V3 card I'm currently using in my older 62s device, but the maps are not visible.

Thanks very much in advance, I hope I've given the required information to avoid too much back 'n' forth.

Thanks for the reply, are you referring to "Very simple Drag & Drop using WebUpdater" ?

The "spoiler" graphic underneath "does not display in my area", so not sure if I'm missing any info?

It shows the Webupdater program icon and the patched firmware on your desktop with your device plugged in you drag the firmware to the program Icon and the starts the installation.

GarminNuvi, Thanks for clarifying the process.

Update:

I have updated the firmware by dropping the file onto the webupdater.
The device detected "new software" and I chose "yes" to update it.

I then formatted the SD Card again as FAT32
I copied the 'sid' and 'sql' folders to the root
I unlocked the London and South East map and copied the DA452000A.IMG file to the root
Booted the device and it displayed "loading maps" for about 10s

======================

I cannot see the OS Maps :wallbash:

I've tried copying the sql/sid folders and img file to "/Garmin" folder on the SD card, no joy.
If I copy the IMG file to the root of the device itself, however, I can see the maps.

What's the trick with the SD card, please?

Thanks in advance.

@GarminTech
your garmindevice.xml shows where the Supplemental (on SD card) maps need to go, maybe your SD card has failed try another. [Please Register or Login to download file]
<Name>SupplementalMaps</Name>
<File>
<Specification>
<Identifier>IMG</Identifier>
</Specification>
<Location>
<Path>Garmin</Path>
<BaseName>gmapsupp</BaseName>
<FileExtension>img</FileExtension>
</Location>

Thanks for the info. So I confirmed that Path in the XML and it's defined as 'Garmin'

I saw in my xml and in your extract above, that the file gmapsupp.img is mentioned - is this file a required base level map that also needs to be present?

RE: the SD card itself (a good shout), it works 100% fine in my 62s. I scanned to card for errors also, and it reported ok.

I think I'll put some Open Topo Maps for British Isles on the card as a test. You might be onto something, that device might not like the card. It's a decent speed, genuine 16GB Kingston one....but it needs ruling out.

The base map you are thinking of is gmapbmap.img this has to be present on the device.
gmapsupp.img is the default name, but your device supports IMG files with custom names so DA452000A.img is fine.

Thank you for your consistent help to everyone!
Now I have found an old Garmin device, and here is its HWID information:

<Model>
<PartNumber>006-B1959-C0</PartNumber>
<SoftwareVersion>310</SoftwareVersion>
<Description>nüvi C265</Description>

Does this device require unlocking?
If unlocking is required, is there a corresponding unlock firmware available for upload? Thank you very much!

Good morning,
How can I unlock a DriveSmart 55?
I'm trying to install maps using BaseCamp but it won’t let me use them. :013:

Regards
