Primo cannot find a voice file ??? It stops and no crash.txt.
And in system.ini it says the Regional language is English-us, a language that is not even included in the download (Romanian and Spanish).

Since it's New Years evening, I will worry later.

Formatted the SD and tried again. It works now. However, except from the settings button that is moved I see nothing new so far. I think in navigation screen the TMC button is moved compared to 2.0 but I am using a skin there, so I could be wrong. 2.0 skins don't work on this build. So far I see no reason to be excited about 2.4.0.

To let it run on PDA (or Windows Mobile?) devices.

This looks exactly like any other Primo 2.0 builds, except that the settings is moved out of the [More] menu and is now a button that goes next to the [UI_labs] button on the right of the exit button.

Primo 2.0 skins do NOT work. GJ-ak freezes on the UI-ready message, while dimka returns some file missing error message. Functionalities added via UX folder work fine.

I saw some 3Dcars that were new to me.
Also this Primo don't seem to like it when it's content folder is not in root. Tried a shared content folder (that is working with iGO8.3.5, Primo1.2 and Primo2) and failed (by the way, I got the same voice error as first)

Deleted this 2.4 from my device completely without regrets.

Edit

Something new is found and published on other boards (not to be named here). When the sys.txt has these lines

[poi]
provider_filtering=1then it would be possible to filter the POI's per (map) provider by a click on a button. However only useful when having multiple POI sets loaded.

For a picture : [Please Register or Login to download file] his feature won't disable double/triple icons.

I've looked on various forums re the posts announcing, with links, the recent latest igo 8 and primo versions and lots of downloads/views but practically no feedback on any forum. Usually there are immediate posts with advantages and disadvantages of latest versions but nothing really for these releases. I'll stick with the 'older' versions in the meantime

Maybe the time of the year?

It's or was a well known fact that iGO 8.3 isn't developed further. AS a prove, the latest build offers us nothing more than a new build number. At least nobody can tell us what else is new in that build.
And Primo's newer builds are known to be nothing more than adaptions to particular devices.

The newest Primo 1.2 and 2.4 now come as a surprise (1.2) or as a sort of disappointing but long awaited development (2.4).
However their real value is unclear. A new place for a settings button and a POI filter cannot convince me to update.
What would (in Primo) is when the not always logical routing (in Primo) would equal the logic of iGO8. I did not test in the new builds a route where Primo lets me do every time an unneeded detour, but I would miss my skin too much to give up the "old" 2.0.

What it does have is a very clear set of colours for the default Day setting.
Now if I could find where they hid them... I could use on my normal P2.

Thank you. Is it just exe and branding to replace or what other files did you change?

I replaced only the main exe file and it did not work. While loading it was reaching the final phase (something like contentUI ready if I remember), but it did not fully go through. What else did you replace?

My guess is data.zip and Branding.zip. At least !!

Took a look....Change EXE and data.zip at a minimum for sure...AND delete any previous Save folder (older saved settings are almost guaranteed to cause some conflict). Branding.zip is irrelevant...only contains a basic INI file that is not even needed (or can be edited to display anything you like):
Code: Select all
[Branding]
<Navigation Software>="iGO Primo 2.0"
<Web Address> | <Support E-mail>="www.igomyway.com"
But that's just my opinion..I could be wrong.
