Yes you can.

If your device is not "end of life", you will update free from Tomtom MyDriveConnect.

If your device is "end of life" (or you need free speedcams, or need an other coverage), you will update it free from TTActivator.
Search a little bit in the forum.

The last Nav3 Europe map (45 countries) is 1155. It weighs over 5Gb.
If your device isn't the 8Gb version, you will use RlinkExplorer to load it on a 8 or 16Gb SDHC card.
