editing POI on Tomtom One

Sat May 20, 2017 3:56 pm

Hello,

I own a Tomtom ONE IQ Routes with App 9.510, OS 842337.
I want to edit/add/alter my personnal POIs stored on the device internal SD card (eg. using some third party software
like POIedit). Many forums says that the POI file has an ov2 extension, but I cannnot find it.
Any suggestion ?

thanks
tom

The POI file itself has an ov2 extension

EG: If you download [Please Register or Login to download file] you'll see 3 files contained within the zip file:

London_Underground.bmp = image file
London_Underground.ov2 = POI file
London_Underground.txt = information file

You might be able to see the extensions in Explorer if that option is not enabled: Explorer > tools > folder options > view > untick Hide extensions for known file types

hi Fredderf, thanks for the tip,
yes I did try the "don't hide extensions" in the explorer, but still cannot find any ov2 file (is it supposed to be at root?).
Is there a possibility that old devices like this one do not use ov2 formatted files ?
cheers

Your devices does recognise *.ov2 files but you're not going to find any on there unless you've already created/downloaded some and placed them in the map folder yourself.

So what personal POI's are you expecting to find exactly?

hello
I am looking for the POI I created by using the device graphical interface, in the "Favorites" menu. There's also a special "Favorite" called "Home" in the menu, that I may want to edit/alter. I understand from your explanations that theses "Favorites" are not managed as POIs are ?

cheers

Ok, so your talking about favourites not POI's...

Your favourites & recent destinations are saved in a file called 'mapsettings.cfg' which is contained within the map folder on your device.
You can import that file into your POI Edit program and convert it into a favourite.ov2 (POI) file if you wish
