UNLOCKING ANY GARMIN MAP

Here the simplest solution to unlock Garmin maps.

Protected toolkit_2254_x86 or Garmin Garmin file toolkit_2254_x64

Just open the system that matches your application.
Drag the locked map into the blank window.
Wait a few seconds to gather information.
It will report if locked.
In that case click on "Unlock File"

Yes. I've did it with NT North America 2015.20.

PGFT 2.2.5.4 has been released on 04-12-2012 and posted for the first time by marcoqc in my forum at that date. Credits to him.
You can read there the changelog.
I can guess it doesn't unlock maps for new protected devices that appeared around January 2014
Actually protected firmware devices are Nuvi55/56/65/66/25x9/26x9,zūmo590,GPSMAP64,Edge1000.

These UnLock maps for ALL device ( new protected devices, except NTU maps )..... based to gimgunlock.exe

I agree with catymag. Based on the timeline of the PGFT 2.2.5.4 release date and the introduction date of the new protection scheme (inside the newr GPS models) I can't believe PGFT it will unlock maps for use on the newer models. That is why I originally asked the question.

I believe folks promoting the use of the PGFT kit don't fully understand the issue. Sure, PGFT works fine (and always has) with maps targeted for the older GPS models.

the images are on c:/Garmin. Cannot unlock
Tried with Mapset tool kit, it requests cgsmapper
Tried with Base Camp. it requests a code
Gimgunlocl, works but does not unlock

How to proceed?

Awesome. Thank you. I just copied a map from my Nuvi with lifetime upgrades to my Mom's cheaper model without. This unlocker had it working in seconds. (Plus the ten minutes to copy the file over USB.... but it worked!)

I just tried this on Topo Canada from a friends GPS he got for christmas 2014.. says file is unlocked but device says img files are still locked!

Tried unlocking a map for my GPSmap 541s using all the tools posted here. They say that the unlock was successful but the unit says "cannot unlock map".

Edit: I used jetmouse and it worked like a charm.
