I am looking for a bit of a steer please. I have a Garmin Nuvi 2599. The info from the GarminDevice.xml file is as follows:-
<PartNumber>006-B1947-00</PartNumber>
<SoftwareVersion>870</SoftwareVersion>
<Description>nüvi 2599</Description>

I have done a search on 2599 but am a bit confused as to what to do.

So, few questions :-
Is this device able to use unlocked maps?
Does it need patching in some way to use unlocked maps, if it is able to at all?
Do I need to do anything such as setting the device to Mass Storage?

I have tried to follow some information on this thread but it seems some of the links are dead --> topic17987.html

Any help would be appreciated.

I attempted this first by just copying the files to the MicroSDCard (not in the folder structure) which didn't work. I then retried with the folder structure as unpacked which did work. Log as below.

nüvi 25x9 Software Version 8.80, UID:

Success

All working fine.
