Toyota/Lexus Navi DVD Gen5 - 2016 version: Anybody ?

Wed Nov 04, 2015 2:05 am

Might anybody have the newest Gen5 DVD for North America ? This is U40 15.1 ?

BTW, if anybody needs a copy of Gen5 U39 14.1, I can get both a standard and "hybrid" version to you. LMK

Hi, I can only tell you what "i think" is meant by "firmware" on the Navi systems. My experience is only a 2007 rx350, north America version. As near as I can fugure, when people say firmware, they mean a reboot of the loading.kwi file on the dvd. This is how the hybrid discs are made, replace the newer loading file with one from an older version (that allows the use while moving backdoor). You need to get a disc with whatever loading.kwi file you want, disconnect the main battery for a few minutes, then reconnect and install your "new" dvd. When you powere up the vehicle, the Navi system reads this loading file and operates based on the info within that file (i.e. - allowing the backdoor). I hope this helps, but it may not be valid at all for a European vehicle.

I have just received the Ver. 15.1 for GEN 4 (U30), GEN 5 (U40) East and West and GEN 6 (U97) for my real estate practice vehicles.

Might you be willing to share ? I'm looking for Gen5 West. I'll be happy to also take East and post a hybrid of both.

Other than the above tease, no :-(

There is another tease on a different forum for the West version... Will keep you posted here!

Calling my post a tease makes me curious as to what you are looking for. If you are looking to get free copies, maybe it is. I spent a lot of cash to get these updates each year for my vehicles. I have to clone them to share them among vehicles. I have been working with navigation discs for Lexus and Toyota for a decade now and am pretty knowledgeable. I've made "hybrid" discs every year since 2008 and they always work fine. If you have some interest, PM me and we can talk about it.

Actually, the guy was nice enough to call your post a tease. In reality, it's actually a pretentious piece of Metamucil-laden you-know-what. I find it hard to believe, that when you read the original poster's query, and all the ensuing posts thereafter, that you failed to understand what's being asked here? If you understood just fine, and still decided to write your supercilious defecation, then you're the one with the problem. If you aren't willing to share your data because you "spent a lot of cash", then simply sod off, yeah?
