You need patched firmware for travelpilot NX for accepting copied DVD....

Thanks for sharing this, downloaded fine through tor browser, also downloaded the patched fw, also downloaded fine.

My questions are how to get the nx to accept the 2017 disc. I have tried the normal 5.3 update and the patched update but it wont work.
I put the dvd in and it downloads fine, says the dvd version number is greater, the screen looks like it goes through the download but the dvd says 0.000.00.00 in the sw fw version and old dvd says the fw of whats installed in the unit.

Is there anything else I need to burn in the dvd iso? I assumed that flashing the patched update then the next disc it would accept is a copy.

Do i need to put the original back in before the copy? The dvd I used is a verbatim dvd+r dl, 8x speed but imgburn copied at x4 if i remember. I also did check and change the book type, even though it was already selected/active.

Any help would be ace, I know that its almost there.

These maps DO WORK! And DO DOWNLOAD!

I had to do this....

Summary of instructions for installing the 2017 update:

Info on CD and DVD
recordings 16x recording to CD (Verbatim CD-R 700MB 52x 80min blank)
4x recording to DVD (Verbatim DVD + R DL 8.5GB 8x 240min silver )
ImgBurn2.5.8.0 software (use the WRITE IMAGE FILE TO DISC option to burn ISO)

How to Eject the navigation DVD:
Press the NAV + MENU buttons, tap EJECT DVD, enter the 4-digit PIN code, tap in OK

Hidden menu engineering:
Press the CD / AUX + CLIMATE + HOME buttons

Order of installation of the firmware CDs and the DVD with the 2017 maps:
DELETE ALL STORED / SAVED DESTINATIONS and MAKE A FACTORY RESET / DEFAULT SETTINGS before and after the firmware update.
Use the bottom reader (remove the button and cover) to update the System with the CD and the update with the DVD.
Burn the FORD_NX_SOP50.ISO firmware to a CD .
When placing the CD in the player, do not update. Select CANCEL and then select CD / AUX + CLIMATE + HOME, then select SYSTEM and SYSTEM DOWNLOAD (takes 18 minutes).
Burn the FORD_NX_SOP53PATCHED.ISO firmware to another CD .
When placing the CD in the player, do not update. Select CANCEL and then select CD / AUX + CLIMATE + HOME, then select SYSTEM and SYSTEM DOWNLOAD (takes 18 minutes).
Burn DVD map NX 2017
When loading the DVD of 2017 maps, do not update. Select CANCEL and then select CD / AUX + CLIMATE + HOME, then select SYSTEM and NAVEGATION DOWNLOAD (takes 3 minutes).

Taken from a polish forum but probably been said on here or talkford or the like but because people don't like to do dedicated forum posts for a specific detail, only post in a certain place for some reason, but the above is what is required to get copied discs to work in the unit. I was lucky to have been given a 2008 disc with SP5.0 already on the dvd with the maps FW.

I DID downgrade my maps FW and maps SW AND navi FW first like instructions say, even though I as already on 1118_100429 FW (SP5.3) Nothing bad happens from downgrading. But because you need the patched SP5.3 I followed the instructions just in case it needed official FW before patched FW.

The patched FW has a nicer colour on theme 2 in the display menu thankfully, the beige is ghastly!

My only gripe with the NX unit is the actual navigation voice, it sounds like its been translated from a different language. The grammar of the voice is not correct. the sentence souns like a non English speaking person has said it in a different language and then translated it to English?
Maybe its just because its old? But it works!
