Hello. Is it true that the firmware cannot be patched in the Garmin Drive 40 navigation ? From what it says here, it is rather impossible due to the encryption of the software.

First look in your garmindevice.xml and confirm your HWID then use Search this topic with the HWID to find a SD card Patch kit that already exists.

Your SD card will have a new file named 154.bin this is a backup of the device's non-volatile memory region and may save your device later if needed,so keep a copy of it somewhere safe."

Does this patch allows it? Is this procedure still valid? Just insert the SD card and that's it?

This is not the same method as Handheld devices ,an SD card Kit has been created to make it simple to load Firmware ,just follow the instructions.

Sorry to say ,generally if you cannot find the Patch here it CANNOT patched.

I have an echomap plus 42cv, HWID 2807. On Garmin page for software updates I can only find the latest update: echoMAP with SD Card software version 2023.0406.0. That file does not seem possible to patch.

So I am planning to use an earlier release instead, but I have not been able to find any archive for earlier releases.

Can someone guide me to where to find the update 2020.0730.2 (contains rev. 13.20 for 42cv) or update 2020.1020.0 (contains rev 13.30).

I will then try to patch these instead and force upgrade to earlier release.
