Maps for Citroen myway - software questions

Postby mperathoner » Tue Aug 31, 2010 7:48 am

I have bought a new citroen c8 with myway-navigation built in.

It seems that the software cuts off some information, maybe to make a difference between myway and the more expensive model, which is not available for the c8 anymore.

Is there any way to get:

-> new maps for this device (citroen has nearly no idea about the device)
-> a software that doesn't cut off the voice??
(example, in German: voice says" jetzt rechts" statt "jetzt rechts abbiegen in ...." )

When you say "myway-navigation", do you mean NavNGo iGO? Or do you mean the device? ("more expensive model"?)
When it's an iGO build, please tell us which one. Goto settings, menu, about and iGO will show the build.

If it is an iGO build that is on your device, then newer maps are no problem, when you can access the memory or when the device uses an sd card.
About voices: I suspect you mean you would prefer TTS voices that say "jetzt rechts abbiegen in die Hauptstrasse"? Again, when it's iGO, that should not be a problem. Are TTS voices installed or not? In menu, regional you can change the voices. Is there a voice (or more) that says it is TTSvoice? If so, just change your current voice.

If there is not, we could try to install one. But does your device has the memory needed to support TTS?

Hello nabi, thanks for Your information. I am talking about the Citroen myway-Navi (OEM product manufactured by Harman-Becker), the more expensive one is called NaviDrive by Citroen, there are nearly equal devices built in some Peugeot-models, but with different names.

Harman-Becker does use NavnGO soft on some of his devices, so it's possible you have iGO8 on yours.
However I found elsewhere on a forum the MyWay nav system (OEM Citroën 2009) has ViaMichelin Maps. I thought ViaMichelin was stopped in 2006?

edit
The device is indeed made by Harmann-Becker and has a 7 inch (?) 480*234 screen and a build in sd card reader, That is correct? I found this info on Citroën website. But they don't give much info at all. Not even an image of the working software :-(
The only useful info is the device has "ViaMichelin Trafic" whatever that is.
But to give you any help, we must at least know what software is on it (when the maps are ViaMichelin, it's not IGO) and how much memory the device has.

I am double sorry.
One, I did not see your last change before.
Two, the software version don't ring a bell about whatever software is running.

The good news is that this is the very latest firmware on Peugeot/Citroën MyWay devices, that new that it is not available on any forum yet. The bad (?) news is that it seems to have some extra security build in. Like backup sd card won't function anymore, you need the original that came with it.

The new release has this features (not confirmed however!):

Codec Audio MP3 / ACC (Ipod) / IDTAG V3
I don't know if you know French, but the 'noms des rues' indicates TTS.
But it could be only for the more expensive unit, and not yours.

Concluded, I do not know how to help you.

But we have a forum for Citroën/Peugeot. http://www.navitotal.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?113-Peugeot-Citroen-%286-50%29VSa

Thank You, Nabi, for the detailed info. My French is good enough to translate that.
