Tomtom / TT Navigator working on Sony NV-U71T

Fri Oct 26, 2012 4:27 am

After a week of trying, snooping around forums, genius brain farts, I got tomtom working on my Sony NV-U71T.

What do you need;
Looks like the Sony NV-U71T has a small version of WinCe 4.2 which support TomTom 7.450 and not 7.910.
On this site you will find the necessary software. Install it to your device as descripted.. tutorial demonfatal.
After installing the 7.910 i got a message "This version of TomTom is not supported by this device"
If anybody knows how to solve this, let me know...

Keep in mind you have to do the mapsettings.cfg copy action in your mortscript otherwise you will get the out of memory exception.

At one point my gps hardware could be found but no GPS fix could be made.
This has to do with the fact that TomTom support NMEA protocol and not the SIRF protocol on this device.
So I used SirfTech, which is in de Sony/nav-u directory to switch to NMAE protocol on 9600 baudrate.

This last step did the trick!

Disadvantages:
Routes, favorites, home can not be saved permanent since you overwrite the mapsettings everytime you start.

Hopes this will help.
