I have a nextar q4 wince 5.o that i got garmin to run on but i cant get install any maps please help i am new to this.

Do you get an error message about the maps?
Does Garmin see the maps?
What procedure did you use to install the maps?

yes i get an error saying (detailed maps are required to use this feature, maps are unavailable when the device is in usb mass storage mode). i install garmin on resident flash and the map on my sd card 4gig but the maps size is only 1.75 gig. No. i dont think garmin see the map its map Full north america nt 2013.30 unlocked img. the file name is GMAPSUPP.IMG

Maps on a SD card need to be in a folder called either Garmin or Map before it is seen, it's been a while and i don't remember exactly which one.

I am new to this and really dont know vwhat i am doing but i got lucky and got garmin to load. I just dont know what to do as far as the maps. If i could get detailed info and working this from start to finish that would be really nice. Thanks

No. Maps on a SD card need to be named gmapsupp.img. In the internal, maps need to be named gmapprom.img. What Fatboyfun is saying is the first thing [on the SD card where you already have gmapsupp.img] the maps must be either in a folder called Garmin or Map. Create a folder on your SD card called Garmin and drag the gmapsupp.img file into it. If that doesn't work do the same with a folder called Map. One of them will work.

5138 What Garmin program are you running and where did you get it? No software comes with a map. A basemap, maybe. That is something you add separately. What maps did you download?
Attachment is from my old SD card. Maps have been updated since then.

i downloaded it from a torrent site cause i could not get any working links and it did not come with a basemap it is Garmin Mobile xt 5.5.20 Rus_WinCe.5.0 6.0_480x278_sdmmc 93.6 mb.
And the map is Garmin full north america nt 2013.30 unlocked.img
