When you connect it to your PC, can you explore the contents?
And can you tell if the software is in memory or on SD card (is there an sd card slot?)
And just for knowing, What navi software?

hi m8 when i connect it to my pc i can explore the contents using windows mobile device centre, the software is in the memory but there is an sd card slot that is empty, the nav software is route66 and the map that is on the device is uk ireland 2008 Q3,was wondering if the device cant be unlocked if i could update the map by putting it on a sd card, when the device is connected to my pc i can update the maps by going to extras, maps, route 66 store, for a price (that i aint willing to pay lol),thanks.

I am no expert in this matter, but when you can place any nav software (preferably iGO because that is the easiest - just copy/paste - and does not effect any device or windows system software -like the registry) in the directory where route66 is located - the exe having the same name.exe as the route66 executable - then you should have a working system. By the way, iGO can function by having the software in memory and the contents on sd.
No need for further unlock then. Only to be on the safe side, make a backup before doing anything.

hi mate when you say the software in memory and the contents in sd what part of the igo program must go in the memory and what part goes on the sd card ??,i understand that i must change the exe to that of route66 :helpsos:

i tried putting it all on the memory but there is not enough space

All of iGO goes in memory, except for the map "content" which is in the iGO root
The difficult part of this is the name of the sd card. There must be a sys.txt file in iGO root) and in that file should be

[folders]
content="\Storage Card\igo\CONTENT"

where "\Storage Card\igo\CONTENT" must be the correct path. When "content" folder is in the root then the phrase is : content="\Storage Card\CONTENT". Okay so far?
Now the difficulty is the name of the storage card. "Storage Card" is a possibility, as is "SDMMC". These 2 are the most common.

Typically, when iGo is split between drives, it makes more sense to put the Content folder on an SD Card since it contains the most stuff.
Then you put a category and line such as this in sys.txt in the main iGo folder on your internal storage:
Code:
[folders]
content="/{The Name of Your Storage Card Here}/iGO8/Content"

So in the above example, you would create a folder named iGO8 on the storage card, and inside that a folder named Content.
Then copy the entire contents of the original Content folder to that location.

Nabi is talking contents

content\map for .fbl maps
content\poi for pois
etc.
