no gps stop to work on boot screen

My guess is your friend edited HKLM\init in the registry

You need to find out the make and model or ROM version, then search for the ROM update files FOR YOUR DEVICE, and flash a new ROM, if the files exist...

That is why it is important to have the device specs from the original setup at hand.
In the about section or sometimes under updates you find a screen that apart from several other things shows the exact name of the firmware installed.
Without that info it will be up to pure luck if a new Firmware would work apart from the problem that most devices have specific filenames for the update files or need an installer.
In 99% of all cases a custom menu will solve all problems on a Chinese brick, changing the registry can not only be harmful but also cause a brick.
Some device use a protected system which basically means that even if you can "unlock" the desktop no real change to the system is needed. On a protected system the CE Core will refuse to accept any changes to the registry and tries to revert back to default settings - but most manufactorers don't include these files in their devices as many of them use illegal CE systems anyway.
There are several default names for autostart programs on CE devices, you can search Google about it. Some can override your normal registry and allow you basic access to your device again.
If you have no info about the original firmware you might want to search Google for your device or contact the seller about device details.
Keep in mind that you only can update the firmware with a newer version. So if the device never got any updates you might need a firmware restore tool to override the defective firmware.
If there is nothing available for your device only a hardware solution is possible and very complicated.
As said by Fatboyfun: Google is your best friend now in case you don't have the exact firmware name at hand....

I'm not sure how .img files would do anything regarding firmware. I would think that the files you need are either .exe or .dll.

Try holding down the power button while turning on until it goes into flash/bootloader mode

I don,t believe that you need firmware. Bij mistake you deleted the internal memory and have no backup. So you need the software for the internal memory.

AFAIK a PC can't just delete files - only the user can ;)
Anyway the option would be to contact the manufacorer.
