Does it give an error message? Copy all the dll's from the original navigator folder to the newer one (I forgot to add the dll pack)

I don't get any error message.
Which is the original Navigator folder?
Also, I've just noticed that in the Navigator folder (in the 7.91 zip file) there is a data.chk file containing "recovered file fragments".
I've transferred over the .dlls from the 7.45 and it hasn't made any difference.
And I've found my book which says that it's Win CE NET 5.0 core version.

1, TTN 7.450
2, This is a Tomtom file irrespective of what Windows says it is.
3, I thought it was but wanted to be sure.

TTN 7.910 is a hassle to get working that's why i recommend TTN 7.450, Either Activesync is corrupting the files while transferring them to the device, (Activesync is rubbish at large file transfers) or there's a problem with the registry in your device...

A couple of things to try first...
Confirm there is a Note_prj.dll file inside the Navigator folder
Try creating a My Documents folder and moving the map folder into there
Another thought is that Activesync will insist on converting certain files into mobile versions, so connect your device and open Activesync on your PC and go to the tools menu and select options, Click on the rules tab and click conversion settings and uncheck the convert files when syncronized, copied or moved option. I can't remember how to do it on WMDC for Vista and Windows 7 but it'll be there somewhere...

If still no go you may need to edit the registry which can brick the device if you get it wrong...

I have a note_prj.dll in the MobileNavigator folder. I moved the maps into a "My Documents" folder. And I've unchecked the conversion in Activesync - but of course the transfer has already been done.

It's a bit weird that at one point it started and moaned that it couldn't find any maps and when you load maps on, it doesn't moan that it still can't find them it just seems to ignore them...

Do we look at editing the registry?

Tomtom can be either the easiest programme to get working, or the hardest...

Is the original application still on the device?

What happens is Tomtom looks in the default shell folders for the maps, (%MyDocuments%, %SDCARD%, etc) Some devices don't have these set up properly, or they've been deleted/edited by other software, So we just need to recreate them. May be worth recopying the navigator/map folder over as Activesync may have thought one of the files needed converting.

Try putting the map folder inside the navigator folder first, as voices are found there ok, (Never tried it, may not work, but editing the registry is the last resort)

I'll post instructions to edit the registry tomorrow as i'm too tired now and it's your device at risk...

If all else fails we'll move on to installing iGO, as this programme works on most devices, You will have a device to go away with...

Editing the registry is dangerous and can brick your device if you make a mistake, Double check any edits before saving them.

The registry key you need to look at is...
HKLM\System\Explorer\Shell Folders\
There will be several values here like...

Application Data
Desktop
Favorites
Fonts
My Documents
Program Files
Programs
Recent
Startup
Windows

My Documents should have a default value of...
\My Documents
Change it to \SDMMC
If it's not there then post back.

IMPORTANT! Do not edit any other value!

Place the map folder into the root of the SD card and try Tomtom again.

Do you know what version of Tomtom your friend installed? And also how he installed it?

Ok, It looks like your friend deleted the original programme and replaced it with Tomtom, This is not the best or easiest way of doing it.

It's so much easier if you use a SD card and reader, so find a 2GB card and card reader.

From earler posts in this thread, it seems that the X350 has issues with Tomtom so it may not work at all, However iGO8 works so there is another option, So either way you will have a working device.

I would start with this version

And rename the igo 8 folder to MobileNavigator
and igo8.exe to MobileNavigator.exe
Note capital M and N

So the path looks like
X:\MobileNavigator\MobileNavigator.exe

You will need to tweak it a bit to get it to run properly, so don't be put off by any error messages or other issues
