Binatone F430 USA MAPS

Postby way318 » Sat May 11, 2013 4:03 pm

Hi, this is my first post so be gentle.

I have a Binatone F430 with UK maps on it and i'm travelling to the usa/Florida/orlando shortly and would like to use it while I'm over there.

How do I go about getting USA maps on it as don't really want to hire one while I'm over there or buy another one before I go?

Thanks

Welcome to navitotal :)

I very much doubt you will find what you want, but there is a much better alternative...

Put iGO 8 or iGO Primo on it instead, for which USA maps are available.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply.

I am new to all this and I know it most probably easier that it reads, but it does seem/sound complicated and I'm concerned I totally mess it up and then loose the uk maps on it.

So Shell.ini just the name of a folder on an SD card that you save the iGO 8 or iGO Primo navigation software in?

I'll double check tonight, but I think mine is WinCE 6 so which one do I use iGO 8 or iGO Primo or doesn't it matter.

Once I've got the iGO 8 or iGO Primo navigation software on the sd card, I guess I then need to put the maps on the maps I require on the SD card?

What stops the sat nav just starting up its preloaded original software, do I have to modify the path so its looks at the sd card instead?

Cheers

You do everything on the SD card (max 2GB) the shell.ini tells the device to start another application instead of the original, if you eject the card and reboot, your device is back to as it was.

You can use either application, fellow mod here chas521 says iGO 8 routes better though.

It's not complicated, it's a case of copying some files to a SD card, putting into the device and rebooting.

Btw there are UK maps available for iGO as well.

Hi fatboyfun, not sure if i'm doing something wroing but when I click on the link for IGO 8 it directs me to a web site called embedupload. I can then see a file called 'IGOH84BD.rar' which I presume is the software I need. I then click down load and after a few seconds a iLivid pop up appears saying 'File ready to down load'.

Am I doing this correctly and do I then run the iLivid.exe file?

Thanks

Have a read through this thread...

...it explains how hosting sites work, and how to use them.

Ok cheers for that.

Just tried it again and this time clicked on one of the smaller yellow download boxes, for example RS (Rapidshare) / UB (uptobox) and keep getting file not found.

1, Scroll down and click Free Download, then on the next page scroll down and wait for the countdown and then click Download now.

2, All iGO maps are available here, also look at the sticky link at the top of the page.

Ok, cheers, it down loading now.

So from what I understand to do next is, create a folder called shell.ini then within this folder I create another folder called Mobilenavigator, and the put the IGO 8 software in this folder and then rename it mobilenavigator.exe is this correct?

I then also down load the a map and put it in the shell.ini folder?

Is this correct.

Sorry for the stupid questions, but just want to make sure I'm doing it right.
Thanks

Just copy the contents of the archive to the SD card, that's the shell.ini and the mobilenavigator folder.

Copy the map files to the relevant folders on the SD card.

Insert the card into the device, turn it off and on, tap ok and navigation and iGO should start...

Think I'm making this harder than it really needs to be, but I still don't fully understand what I need to do even after reading the guide over and over again and getting loads of help.

As you know I have downloaded the "IGOH84BD.rar" software, do I just put this in a folder called Shell.ini and then copy this folder onto a SD card and then put the card in the device.

What do I have to rename?

I also, read the sticky link at the top of the Map page, for using maps on IGO 8 but it didn't make any sence to me at all.

Really need some help
Thanks

A .rar file is a compressed archive, exactly like a .zip file, you can use WinRAR or 7Zip to extract them.

The files you need are inside it.
