Targa PNA e3540n Needs unlocking please help.

Wed Mar 07, 2012 3:43 pm

Hi All,

Just joined ..... Hi.

I have got a few Targa PNA e3540n.

Some show products have expired.
Some show waiting for signal after maps are loaded. for ages ( don't get a signal in the end)

I bought an unlocking software on the net before discovering this site saying they can unlock xyz sat nav;s and upload xyz maps - but i can't figure it out to be honest.

So i am looking at either pruchasing something i can understand or some help with what i have bought.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks

It seems to be easy enough to run other software on these devices, But the lack of a satellite lock could be a problem.

Are the devices still running the original software and is there some sort of GPS setup (Port, Baud) within it?

Hi Fat boy,

Thanks for the response.

I really don't know the answer to that question. How do I do I find out.
I can plug the Nav in to the pc if that helps but not sure of what you are asking.

I would assume the software on these is original. On some of these I have seem the traveller.exe file

It looks like you just have to download another navigation programme (say igo 8 as it works on almost anything) and rename the folder\file of igo to match the original software, and then replace the original software (make a copy first though) then let igo autodetect the GPS hardware.

Hi Fatboy,

Would it be possible to get instructions. I really am slow at just picking up what you are saying. Sorry. Would really appreciate it.

Please let me know if i am on right track :

1) plug in sat nav through USB computer connection.
2) Copy all files on Sat Nav to my PC

3) Do i then delete all the files on my sat nav?

4) where do i find igo from?

I have also read i must unlock the device? what does this mean?

Unfortunately real life sometimes has to take priority, even trawling the local supermarket.

lol.... well at least you are getting dragged out by the missus... i just get told to go get it...

I got around that by ignoring the shopping list and buying stuff I wanted instead. Result:I now sit in the car while she shops.

I would suggest starting with this version of iGO... here!

Download both parts (1 and 2)

Then go here and download your maps.

Extract everything to your computer.

From the map archive find the map of your country (.FBL) and place it in the folder named Map within the Content folder in the iGO directory.

Only use one map file for now, ignore all other files.

Make a full backup of your device, you may need to turn on 'Show hidden files' and turn off 'Hide protected system files' to get a complete backup.

Note what the original GPS applications folder\filename is and rename iGO's to match.

Delete the original folder and copy the iGO folder in it's place.

Restart your device.

You may need to tweak iGO's config file to get it to run successfully...

NOTE: Don't panic if you see error messages like Application database not found, these are iGO error messages and are easily solved.

Thanks Fatboy... Going to give it a shot.

From the map archive find the map of your country (.FBL) and place it in the folder named Map within the Content folder in the iGO directory.
Is this the archive in the folder i have downloaded to my computer - yes?

Note what the original GPS applications folder\filename is and rename iGO's to match.
Do i do this before transferring files onto the device?

Thanks
