No Sound (at all) on iGo Primo 1.2

Postby Fatboyfun » Mon Mar 14, 2011 11:11 pm

The windows folder is held on a EEPROM, any changes to it will be undone next time the device is restarted, To modify/change it you need special programmes AND a compatible ROM image (They usually have security keys so you can't just use any ROM image) only available from the manufacturer.

EDIT:
the newer iGo8 software version has been optimised to work with it

Another update. If i go onto my copy of Igo 6 on my in car satnav and click on the sounds then click on Voice language and let the test person say "have a nice trip" i an click on the arrows and i can hear a clicking from when i press next page etc, now as soon as she stops speaking then i cannot hear the clicking anymore, so im thinking that when the voice speaks it turns on the sound. I am going to go through my voice folder and data folder to see if there is a link anywhere in there to get this working :D!

An update, i have spent a few days attempting to see what the issue is with this. I have got another SD card, copied over the contents of the original, and just replaced the .exe with a cracked copy and replaced the licence.db and the igo.db and guess what, no sound on the copied! Looks like unless someone knows how to break into .exe's im screwed lol!

Another update. Looking at the navigation.exe for the original igo6 it needs a file called coredll.dll, i will try and rip this from the headunit and report back!

Coredll.dll will be in the windows directory already.
GX.dll is a graphics library.

The above dll's are Windows resources.

AAAShell.dll is a new one to me...

Yep i should of googled it first haha, unless there is something in the original navigation.exe which loads up the drivers then i really am stuck, i have copied over the directories and every file. The only difference is the Navigation.exe and the Licence.db, if i put them on the copied version it will simply give me a error which is to do with the licence.

I had an idea...

IMPORTANT! You will be reading the device registry, Do not edit anything, ALWAYS tap cancel when given a choice, Change any registry entry here and your device will fail to boot, And there may be no recovery!

Boot your device to a desktop.
Download 2538, Extract, Copy BOTH files within MobileNavigator archive to device and run MobileNavigator.exe (Total Commander)
Open Registry -> HKLM -> init
There will be loads of files here, double tap on all the files that start "LaunchXX" (XX will be a number) and make a note of the executable, Tap cancel to exit.
When all the executables have been noted exit Total Commander

Download 2537, Extract, Copy file to device and run ResInfo.exe
Find the Tasks tab
Tap on Processes
Highlight process which IS NOT in the list below and tap End Process. (You may not have all the processes in the list running)
Device.exe
Gwes.exe
Explorer.exe
Shell.exe

WindowsCE won't let you stop essential system processes and stopping certain other processes will cause the device to freeze, Just restart it and try another. There may be only one or two than you can safely kill.
The goal is to stop any third party processes that may be causing the sound problem.

Once you've stopped all the processes you can, start the new version of iGO and see if it works.

Thanks for the info/advice mate, but sad to say still no :(

First of all, i did find the registry on the device and it contained:

Launch20>: device.exe > Main exe for wince
Launch30>: gwes.exe > Graphics for wince?
Launch48>: SetPlatAttr.exe > Windows file system controller?
Launch50>: SkypineLoader.exe > This launches NavigRecive.exe (relaunches even if it open.
Launch60>: services.exe > Wince services controller

I terminated all of the processes that was running (Avoverlay which basiclly is an overlay which tells you what you are listening to etc radio, cdplayer, dvdplayer) and navigrecive.

Navigrecive & Avoverlay imports/uses these .dll's

Import Module 001: mfcce400.dll
Import Module 002: COREDLL.dll

But if i terminate Avoverlay.exe and Navigrecieve.exe i get no sound on the original igo2006 navsure version!

So comparing the 2 igo 2006 main excutibles there is some different entries into the mfcce400.dll and COREdll.dll. I am going to try and compile these entries and make a new .exe, i really doubt this will work, i have no programming experience (im an cisco network engineer by trade LOL!)

I will report back soon, more than likely with the results of no sound still but meh, its work a try eh?

An update, i have decided to modify the original card (It contains the licensing hard-coded for Igo 2006 on it) and i used a cracked exe (just to see if there was hidden information on the SD card which booted up a sound driver) and there was no sound with this.

This confirms that the sound is coded somewhere in the Navsure navigation.exe, I will report back in a few days, what im going to hopefully try and do is find the bit of code and make a custom .EXE that runs when i use a bootloader to load into Windows CE. Wish me luck!

Update. Comparing the 2 files together (original Navsure Igo2006 .exe and the cracked Igo2006 .exe) it appears that there is 2,536,761 differences found on the Hex editor, and there is no information about loading any extra .dll's nor is there any info on the sound.
