Hey Guys,
Stumbled across this thread while Googling and thought I'd sign up to reply.

I have a double din navigation head unit with the exact same problem, and I also narrowed the problem down to being a custom iGO executable that initiates the sound drivers. Run the original iGO and no problems. Run any other GPS app and no sound. I'm still working on it though. I've decompiled the iGO program into assembly language and trying to find where and how the sound is initiated. Then i can possibly put this bit of code into a program byitself, that runs before the GPS app.

My other option is to try and find a different license that works with the original version of iGO, 8.3.2. Because all I'm trying to do is load a different map. I can run Primo with the desired map, but then no sound. I've tried the iGO worldwide license that works on 8.3.4 but it doesn't work with 8.3.2. Still searching for a license that works though...

Did anyone come to a solution for this? I have a similar issue where I have sound but it intermittently mutes and kills the radio as well.

It is a chinese in car double din tv/dvd/gps unit that came with Sygic Drive.

iGo 8 doesn't work, causes it to crash and reboot. Primo 1.2 works but for the intermittent audio drop out. Only power off/on fixes it but that isn't an option in traffic.

This sounds like a hardware fault to me, Have you tried any other software to confirm it is Primo?

It came with Sygic Drive which runs flawlessly. Never had any audio issues with it.

Primo works and without warning audio dies. I prefer Primo as a navigation package so would like to sort out the audio problem.

I'm fairly certain I found out why I have no sound. I found a service manual for my head unit that has full schematics which helped. The audio ouput from the navi component of the unit is routed to the main board, but there's also a serial connection between the 2. My guess is that the custom igo program that it came with, 'tells' the main unit that there is about to be some sound from navi part, and mutes (or attenuates) the audio that is playing at the time and lets the navi voice come through. The standard iGO/Primo apps that i've tried to run, don't have these extra functions to tell the main unit to let it play through.

If I was motivated enough I'd build a small circuit that tapped into the audio channels, that would mute the main source automatically when a signal was detected from the navi audio output. But as I'm only going to sell this particular head unit anyway (for an upgrade) I don't think it's worth it.

I think the same thing would've been happening with murty, but the intermittent one is probably something different. Hope this helps anyway.

thanks WayneG. interesting information. but as you say the intermittent thing is different.

i do believe its in the software (as Sygic Drive has no issues) due to the fact I can drive for 20 minute or 2 minutes before the audio drops out. I have tried both tts voices and natural voices. both do the same.

hopefully there is a fix I can add to the sys.txt file to prevent it from intermittently muting.

Yep :), On my unit it used Igo2006, it only had sound when it was navigating, apart from that all other sound was stopped, so if i went in and did a voice test on the navigation i could hear it, and i could press left and right and hear the change of page click noises it makes, this was down to what i guess is the software opening up the audio channels when testing, as soon as the voice testing on the navigation stopped i couldnt hear the clicking anymore!
