Prestigio GeoVision 5120 UNLOCK please

Postby gringo_48 » Thu Jun 02, 2011 1:55 pm

Hi all!
I have Prestigio GeoVision 5120 / which runs @533MHz on a WinCE 6 system.
The device had come with iGo Amigo software, which is not so bad but I'd like
to unlock it and use iGo or some other software.

Now! My question is:

Can anyone help me unlocking this device and installing other nav software since
I'm a novice in GPS world.

THANX IN ADVANCE!!!!!

Fair chance you only need to replace Amigo with iGO or Primo.
Is the software on sd or in memory? Either, BACK IT UP !!!
Then download a iGO or Primo you find in the iGO section, replace your software -in the same folder - and make sure the exe has the same name as the original exe file. (sometimes it's called mobilenavigator.exe)

Hi! Thanx for the answer!!!
Just some more :)
Amigo is installed on GPS's memory. I have SD slot available for expands... so I can download iGO and place it on the SD card and load it.
Do I need to unlock my GPS in order to do "iGO upgrade"?

Thanx again for help!!!!!

No need for a real unlock, but probably there is a "shell" script that is doing no more than starting up Amigo. So you need to arrange that iGO is started up from sd (and not Amigo) or that a choice is offered to start up the nav program you like.
Fatboyfun is the expert in this.

Are you able to browse the device to find the main executable? If so sorting out a script to start another app is no problem.

Here is a little script that points Windows CE to launch another application instead of the original application...

Extract the archive to your PC and in the MobileNavigator folder are three files...

MobileNavigator.exe
MobileNavigator.mscr
Mortscript.exe

I don't know much about this device, like whether the original app is responsible for loading USB/GPS drivers, so you do this at your own risk!

Make a full backup of your device.
Make a note of what your device's original application's exe file is called.
Rename your original navigation application to something else.
Rename MobileNavigator.exe/.mscr to what the original app was originally called.
ie, Amigo.exe and Amigo.mscr
Copy all three files into the folder where the original application is.
So instead of running the original application (Amigo.exe), The script (Amigo.exe) is run.
Reboot your device.
If all is well you will see a simple file explorer, Use this to navigate to your new application and tap ok.
You will only need to do this once, the path is saved and the new app is started immediately on next boot.
If there is a problem with the path to your application (ie, storage card removed) then the file explorer will appear again.
Currently sleeping...
