Hello, I tried to insert: Kill ("Menu.exe") in the BootAutorun.mscr file, without success
Gopal is still running, and after closing Primo (always autodetecting a GPS), impossible to see the running processes in univshellv1.5 (no Taskmanager disponible)
I close univshellv1.5 and I see the wallpaper of Medion with a taskbar (masked), with 3 running processes: LaunchAut..., FMTFakeWind... and Gopal navigator.
At this point, impossible to close or open anything else....

The name of the process is the exefile name, So starting Menu.exe will create a process called Menu.exe, The window name is whatever the author decided, Usually it's the name of the programme but sometimes it's not. Use the close command for windows and the kill command for processes, Be aware that the close command only asks the programme to close rather than forcing it to, If it doesn't close use the kill command.

unsuccessfull, i'll try to identifie the config in Miopocket, with it Gopal wasn't running
probably hours and days to
I'll keep you informed

It's probably possible to really unlock definitively the Medion device without sd card, but never seen on forums... Gopal zoom is too little, and POI's offers on Medion site are so stupid as Aldi's shops in Germany, Gas stations in Germany, etc. So needs a real third-part log for navigation. Primo is fine to install and upgrade, I would like to install Tomtom too, but never understood how to install the navcore.

Miopocket rewrites the registry to unlock the device. POI warner allows third party POI's within Gopal software

I have received unlock instructions for the Gopal P4440, No scripts or registry are involved, and everything works without SD card and is brick-proof...

This is based on the Pez GPS Menu.

Take original gopal menu.exe in root of My Flash Disk, rename to mnavdce.EXE.
Go to My Flash Disk/Navigation, rename mnavdce.EXE to mnavdceorig.EXE
Move newly renamed mnavdce.EXE from root of My Flash Disk to navigation folder.
Copy GPS Menu menu.exe (from unlock shell) to root of My Flash Disk. Copy sysinfosettings.ini (text = \GPS Menu\Config\GPS.ini) to Root of My Flash Disk.
Copy GPS Menu Folder to root of My Flash Disk.

To get FM Settings, etc to load at boot, go to My Flash Disk/Navigation and rename (already renamed from menu.exe and moved from root to ../navigation folder) mnavdce.exe to mnavdce.NOexe.
In same folder (/navigation) rename audiomanager.exe to mnavdce.exe.
Rename mnavdce.NOexe to audiomanager.exe.
Reboot.

Gopal is hardwired to run menu.exe (from root of My Flash Disk) and audiomanager.exe from ../navigation folder.
Now both (original) menu.exe (now moved and renamed to audiomanager.exe) which loads the FM Transmitter Modules and settings) and the new GPS Menu (in root of My Flash Disk) automatically start.
In Task Manager, they will show under their new aliases.

It is necessary for the original GoPal menu.exe (now called audiomanager.exe) to run at startup (which in turn triggers other modules and settings to start) in order for the FM Transmitter and TMC to both run at the same time--they both share Com1.

woaw, really impressive, but are these steps reversible?
is the use of an external unlock on sd still possible after the manipulation?
where have you found this procedure? I'd like to see copyscreens of that before trying
I really want to use a simple unlock like universalshell or miopocket, but some functions are missing, like bluetooth or voice recognition. It seems that Primo 1.2 allows it, but never found the items in the menus...

"Copy GPS Menu menu.exe (from unlock shell) to root of My Flash Disk"
What is unlock shell?

1, Yes the process is reversible, either by restoring a backup or remembering what changes you made.
2, I would imagine so but i'm not 100% sure.
3, Credits to fellow mod Yurbuh Tuggly.
4, I have no PNA devices with bluetooth or microphone for voice recognition so i can't write and test these features into Universal Shell. Primo will need sys.txt entries to enable these features but as i don't have the hardware i've never done it.

These instructions were based on the Pez GPS menu unlock, Menu.exe would have been part of that, It may have been renamed from something else, The Universal Shell equivalent is the MobileNavigator.exe/.mscr files renamed to Menu.exe/.mscr

You don't want MioPocket. It does not play well with GoPals--you will lose the ability to connect to a PC without a hard boot every time, and it will be impossible to run both the FM Transmitter and TMC. Yes, I tried it, and it took a bit of work to totally get rid of it once I found all the problems with it.
Plus MioPocket adds about 3 minutes to every boot. With my procedure, I boot in seconds.

daktary wrote:is the use of an external unlock on sd still possible after the manipulation?

For me, having an unlock or menu on the SD card kind of defeats the purpose of having it fast and permanent (no worries about hard or soft boot or if the SD card is even present or not). I use the SD card strictly for storing MP3 files.

You can likely use any menu shell you wish to--just substitute whatever starts the shell and rename it to 'menu.exe'.

Oh, and you can still run the original GoPal Navigator if you want to--just have the icon for it in the menu shell point to \My Flash Disk\Navigation\mnavdceorig.exe
Voice Recognition, you can forget about for now--in Primo 1.2. I've been working on it for quite some time and there are still elements missing. NOBODY has got it to fully work yet.
BlueTooth, I don't know either--My GoPal has the ability (supposedly), but I have no BlueTooth devices, so I have not bothered with it. The Bluetooth icon shows up in my Primo 1.2, but like the voice recognition microphone icon, it does not do anything or results in an error.

ok I'll try to re-use the menu.exe from Pez app
after print and read-translate-read-translate
f... system of backup from Medion, syncro via activesync don't work, and copy-paste like on my tomtom is not possible

conclusion tomorrow after test

"I use the SD card strictly for storing MP3 files."
I want to keep the original Gopal app in the flash memory, and install Primo on sd card. I suppose it's possible.
Another (stupid) question: the "menu.exe" is the screen with icons shortcuts taskbar etc. Is it correct?
So, what is this menu: [Please Register or Login to download file]
