@Fatboyfun,
Could you possibly upload the binatone firmware files again as the links are dead?
I am hoping a reflash will help me, as I got another binatone b350 and installed tomtom as usual but what happens with this binatone is after start up into the binatone main menu, the screen will go dim within 5-10 seconds and then blackout. the satnav is still on as you can hear sounds by pressing the screen as in scrolling trough menues and such.
any help on this matter will be appreciated.

Can someone help me with my binatone b350? after it intially starts up and is in the home screen, after 10-15 seconds it goes dim to blackout. I know the screen is still active because I can hear the sounds when I'm tapping on the icons. Could this be a battery issue, or would it have something to do with the fact I installed tomtom 7 on it? I have done a few tomtom installations on other binatones, foehin and hirsh, rac e.t.c. and never had these problems before.
I reflashed the rom using the instructions here and the screen stayed on all the way through the install until the reboot and now its the same as ever.

It sounds like a hardware problem to me, can you get into the brightness settings in the menu?

Hi Fatboyfun, thanks for the quick reply. if i leave the battery drain for two or three days then i could get about a minute or two use out of it. i went to the brightness settings then and turned it up to the last and all that.
The fact that the screen stayed on for the 15mins for the flash(White Screen with blue progress bar) though indicated to me that it was probably not hardware related??
I must also state that my battery doesn't hold any kind of charge, if its not plugged in on startup i get the battery low warning screen right after the binatone start up screen.

That answers your question, my b430 discharges faster than it charges, meaning it had to be off to fully charge properly (and it still takes hours)

What type of charger are you using?

Is it a gradual fade?

How did you install Tomtom?

You are using a different part of the hardware when you flash, so it could be windows related, but a reflash would sort that unless you have some unnecessary script running at startup

just using the usb lead from the laptop and then usb lead from cigartte lighter in the car like I do with my other sat navs that I have given to my family.

The fade last about 3 seconds when it occurs, from bright to dim to blank.

I installed tomtom by putting the files on sd card and renaming TomTom Navigator.exe and folder to MobileNavigator and MobileNavigator.exe. I also installed igo8 and destinator and the problem is still the same.

Would you thnk this would happen if the battery is cooked and like you said it uses more power then it holds while plugged in?
Do you think a battery change could be in order?

I would suspect the battery, give it a good overnight charge using the car charger or a Mains charger first because USB from the computer only gives 30-50% of the power of a car/Mains charger...

Ok, thanks I'll try, hope thats the case.
I'll let you know tomorrow. Thanks for your help.

As it fades I would suspect the battery is struggling to cope with the current required to power all the hardware in the device and something has to give, when you flash, some of the hardware is not used so the power requirement is lower so the screen stays on.

See what it's like after a good charge but I reckon it'll need replacing...

No Good im afraid, left it on overnight charge, took out sd card, switched it on and it lasted about two full minutes on the binatone homescreen, then faded as usual.
The battery indicator has full bars on it, indicating a full charge, the unit itself stays active like i said as you can hear sounds when tapping the blank screen.
I could try to swap batteries out of a binatone a350 if they would be compatible, but i am beginging to think that this could be a logib board fault, don't think it could be a screen fault as it works intermittently.

Try another battery in it, but if it's still the same then it is likely to be a hardware problem...

Fully charge the A350's battery in the A350, then swap them round, If the screen problem moves to the A350 then the battery is faulty.

Hi, I also have the same problem as others - in this case the SD card is missing so am assuming this is why I get the recover the hive partition message? I was going to have a go at restoring the files on a new SD card but the downloads that were kindly given no longer work. Any ideas? Thanks!
