I have a Garmin nuvi 40LM with life-time map updates. I have updated the maps, firmware, and software updates many times via GarminExpress.
What I want to do is a backup of my maps, and system files from the garmin device on to my PC hard drive.
However, when I enable hidden items on Windows and I view the Garmin folders there are no map files or \.System folder available in the \Garmin folder. ...

I have an older Garmin Nuvi 255W satnav unit that I want to do some map updates. Unfortunately, this unit does not have Lifetime map updates. This has been confirmed with Garmin Express. The installed map is from 2011.
How can I manually update this unit with updated newer maps? Also, I want to install the new maps on a 32GB microsd card.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry if I'm being a little special here but I'm quite new to Garmin.
A friend has recently given me a Garmin satnav (nuvi40), this is the first time I have ever used Garmin which also doesn't help. The issue is that it comes preloaded with the AUS and NZ maps which are not good to me as I live in the UK.

Ive looked through this forum for the best outcome on this tom tom.

it appears the latest best navcore version for this tom tom is 9.541 (correct me if im wrong) it was running 8.010 before that but that was the official from tom tom.

Hi all

got a weird problem with my go520 thats happened this week.
running turck navcore 9.702 with latest truck maps and everythng has been working fine. turned it on one day this week and the RDS-TMC doesnt display on the screen anymore so no traffic warnigns. I bought another (new) one and still nothing is displayed.

Any help please guys.

Has anyone managed to update this navi system or has a walktrough how to do it?
