I am flabbergasted. My nuvi 3790 has North America maps pre-installed which I want to get rid of because I stay in South Africa. However, I can't see the maps on my garmin drive. Hey new to all this and am looking for some help... Can anyone help walk me through the process of getting the map on the SD card and working on my unit. I currently have an unlocked version HXUS039R and would like to put it on. Im on a mac what do I need to do to get this running? Also does anyone have US004R? that would be much better for me because I'm new ...

I don't understand what goes wrong, because apparently it seems simpler to install than those of Norway but....I'm getting really lost..

I tried to :

- put one IMG file directly in the garmin directory in the micro-SD card of my Garmin Etrex Legend Hcx : won't work, the device doesn't see the map

- put one IMG file in the garmin directory ...

I have learned a lot from this forum and consider it top notch resource for finding the things we want to add to our GPS units. However I would like to make the observation that while the resources are available for download the instructions to do so are very vague and in some cases non-existent.

So, I would like to suggest/propose that a tutorial section be added to aid in placing mapsdirectly into the units ...
