2) Have you links for maps V9 and V10 ? I have read with V10 alone rebooting problème..V9 is more good? V10 it's the last maps?

I am quite skilled updating TomTom systems, but know close to nothing to do so with Garmin systems.
A friend of mine asked me to help him with updating his Nuvi52 Western Europe.

First of all, is this possible?
Can I just copy an unlocked map image and that's it?

I see some maps are marked wit NT and some NTU, or as IMG or Gmap...
What are the differences and which one ...

Do you know how to get spoken text alerts, like for example:
"speedlimit is 50" if you ride to fast, or
"speedcamera in 500m"

I can barly hear the alerts due to the "Bong" sound and the low volume of this sound.
In the settings all selections are set to 100%

Can someone explain to me how to change map in my Nuvi 5000 atl,please?

I've been trying to update my TomTom GO 700 to the 1015 maps (or really anything remotely recent - it was bought ~2005 and had never been updated ever!).

I used the TomTom HOME app to update the navcore to 7.903, which I beleive is the latest that can run on the GO 700.

I then saw that maps 1015 support navcore 7.903, so I downloaded Western Europe 1GB 1015 9156 which left me with ...

My 910 has become unstable, requiring frequent reboots after showing the red X on the screen. It will work ok for a while but then freeze. I assume the HD is failing and I'm planning to replace it.
