I'm not completely new to downloading maps and using FastActivate (my dad had a Carminat in his car and I used to download maps for him), but I'm living on my own now and I would like to buy a TomTom myself. Possibly a second hand one, because those are mainly cheaper.

What are things I should look into when buying a new TomTom, but still wanting to download maps from here?

I have been using my Navman S50 for the past 5 years modified with Tomtom maps from Navitotal,
Decided to get the latest Maps and find things changed somewhat.
Are new maps compaitble with my Navman S50 or is this device now obsolete?
Any advice is appreciated.

I have been using DNX571HD with unlocked maps from my LT unit. Firmware in it is 30.04.2015 Garmin Navigation Software V2.20.
05.04.2019 Garmin Navigation Software V2.30 is available now but haven't updated firmware over worries unlock maps my stop working. Does anyone know if this would be the case?

First of all, this topic won't contain a download but instructions how to update the SD card to with the latest maps.

Step 1: Get a SD card (16GB), format it to FAT32 with 64kb cluster size.
Step 2: Get the base contents for the maps. I haven't narrowed down which files you need exactly, but with these files it works.

I would like to point out that navigators of this type, mine including BB717PO, have their clocks that no longer work.
It seems that this is due to the fact that that, the navigator does not recognize the date transmitted by the satellites as it is scheduled until January 3, 2022.
In fact in mine, the clock stopped working on January 3.
Does anyone have more information on this?

Just updated an old nuvi 1300 to latest FW 6.30 and installed an updated map - aside this new one, it only has gmapbmap.img and gmaptz.img in the internal memory, and JaVaWa Device Manger warns to not remove them.

Thing is, when using the nuvi, it is very slow to load the map - to "draw" the map in the screen, if that makes sense, not the initial load. I moved the map ...
