Where are my maps kept?

I have a nuvi sat nav and have the latest map guarantee.Could anyone please tell me if it is possible to find this map in my sat nav and copy it onto my desktop?Is it in fbl format?

Look for gmapprom.img or gmapsupp.img in the root

They are ONLY for Garmin and not for iGO. No, they are not in fbl format.
If it ain't broke don't fix it!

They are navteq, just not in iGO format.

First you should tell us which device you have - there are differences between nuvi models before and after 2010!

In older nuvi devices the original maps are in folder Garmin, in current models they are in hidden folder .System. Original preinstalled maps mostly named gmapprom.img.
