Try using a download manager like JDownloader it doesn't stop at 1.0 GB

Hello,
is it possible to have two maps east and west (instead of north / south) ? Or how is it possible to separate each in two parts : north in north east and west and south in east and west to install the east parts in my GPS ? (not enough space to install France).

No, maps are provided like this (North and South only).
Old V4 was in 4 parts (NE, NW, SE and SW)

May be you can try Utagawa VTT maps [Please Register or Login to download file]

i had several years ago made for garmin topo france 3, it still works but i would like to update with this version 6.i don't remember.

To have the map of France and Corsica, there are 2 files (north and south), shouldn't it be made only one?
after decompression, i have the 2 ****.img; it would be enough to simply put them on the sd card?

Yes, simply copy the files on a sd card in a garmin folder.

Hi folks,
Just wanted to do a quick review of my experience here hoping it will help some other users.

I have a Garmin Edge 820 on which I used TOPO Maps v5 without any hassle for bikepacking and hiking.
I replaced it with Garmin Edge 1040 in latest 27.14 firmware which sadly is an encrypted firmware.

I found a trick that allows me to display the maps. It's not very stable but better than nothing.
You take the topo v6 map and ImgTools. You open the map and modify all CodePage to 1252 as suggested in many other messages.

Then you start the Edge and go to an activity profile and selet the right Topo map. It will display.
But you never have to go to system settings and display the maps menu. Else it will break the thing and the map won't show anything when launching the activity. You will have to start the process again with another file name.

I don't have problem with french accents so far but will see later.

An other solution which is less satisfying but works, is to use the work here provided by a French professionnal with the free IGN data:

These maps are not routable.
You can change the draw priority to 30 with gmapsupp to display it first and then display a second map like utagawa on background to have the routing enabled.
However this map does not contain the paths signs so I found it a little bit more relevant.
