Welcome back, nice to see you again!

My knowledge of Garmin's is limited, but what you want is the "City Navigator (CN) maps" and for ease of use "Unlocked"

Then just replace the map in the Garmin folder, Gmapprom.img or Gmapsupp.img

P!xeldealer can give more detailed instructions.

Hey djc,
Good to hear from you buddy. I just updated my friend's Nuvi 1300. I downloaded gmapsupp.img and then put it on a SD card in a folder called "map".
If it ain't broke don't fix it!
ALWAYS BACK-UP YOUR FILES/FOLDERS BEFORE MAKING EDITING CHANGES!

Please do NOT post any thanks. Simply press the hand icon with the "thumb up" which is the thank you button.

Code: Select all
    The New Garmin Series (1xxx/2xxx/37xx)

In this devices you will find built-in maps in .System folder, this is a hidden system folder and you have to enable the view of this folder in:
Tools\Folder Options\View – Select Show hidden files, folders and drives
Tools\Folder Options\View – Uncheck Hidde protected operating system file (Recommended)

To update this devices you can:
1 - Replace the original map (gmapprom.img) with the one downloaded, you can rename the downloaded map in gmapprom.img if it is named gmapsupp.img
2 – You can create a folder called Map in the root and put the map file inside. The files in Map folder can be renamed as you wish and you can put more than one map in this folder.
Example: “X” is your Garmin driver
X:\Map\gmapsupp.img
X:\Map\Europe.img
X:\Map\NorthAmerica.img
X:\Map\XXXXX.img

You can do the same in SD card
SD:\Map\gmapsupp.img
SD:\Map\Europe.img
SD:\Map\NorthAmerica.img
SD:\Map\XXXXX.img
3 – You can use the Garmin folder in SD but you can use only one map, named gmapsupp.img

That's all ;)
Before that update your nuvi with garmin update tool .. to update some new firmware or add. files like voice and other.
