Hi there

Based in the UK and bought a set of maps to use on holidays in the USA. I had a Micro SD card with North America City Navigator maps which used to work perfectly on my old Sat Nav. Just tried it in my new Xumo XT and I get an error message saying maps corrupted.

I see that maps might be available on the forum but most seem to be for PC.

Can you point me to a download that I can use to install the maps on my SD card?

We are visiting Utah, Nevada, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico in a few weeks time.

I downloaded the bit torrent for United States West

I just downloaded the Zip file and then unzipped it and copied the file called gmapsupp.img onto my SD card into the Garmin Folder and it all worked.

The reason it can't be 'patched' is because it doesn't have Garmin's proprietary OS running traditional (unencrypted) firmware, it's Linux based for this and some other current devices and many earlier devices, DriveSmart x5/x6 series are a prominent example. Garmin does thoughtfully supply the [Please Register or Login to download file] for such devices so maybe some Linux guru will eventually work out how to hack it to allow use of 'unofficial' Garmin NT/NTU mapping. At least on these devices one can use third-party mapping such as OSM but of course functionality like JunctionView isn't available.

I also use MRA (My Route App) which allows me to plot routes and also use my phone as a back up.

I mainly use the Garmin on motorbike trips in Europe so it’s not a big problem.
