So the link goes to another website which is requesting that I pay at least $20. Is that what I need to do? And will this work with a USB? I'm trying to update my Jeep nav unit and it has a USB port. If possible please share files that I need. TIA

Hi

Are these maps locked or unlocked?
I tried using gimgun but the output just said a whole bunch of files were skipped? What should the output from gimgun look like if it was able to successfully unlock the maps? Also, does gimgun modify the existing map .img file or create a new one?

This thread is old ,go to the latest "Sticky" thread

The map are normally described in the ost as Unlocked ,gimgun will skip if they are already unlocked. Gimgun changes the existing file

Thanks Garman. I downloaded this version (2023.10) specifically because my car radio is old and does not recognize map files > 4GB.
I didn't see any mention of these maps being unlocked in the ost. Gimgum skipped files but my car radio asked me to input a product key so I'm not sure if they are indeed unlocked and how to get my car radio updated

No Garmin device can use an .img file bigger than 4GB.
Your device needs attention, read and ask in the thread you have been already.

It's been 3-4 years since I updated my maps.

There used to be a program where I could load the full North American file and then select only the provinces and states I want to upload to my older Garmin with limited space.

Does anyone recall what that software might be? I can't remember the name of it. This full map file is too big to fit and I need to adjust it a bit.

Yes agreed the PC software is Mapsource or BaseCamp also this is not the latest version of the maps, there are multiple options already made for devices with limited storage space.

The other caveat to this is depending how old the Garmin unit is, the most recent map that can be used is 2022.25 because of the problem with the street font.
