Re: Garmin City Navigator Australia & New Zealand NT 2022.30

Hi,

Thanks for posting this mapset.

I have a Suzuki Grand Vitara with a Garmin Infotainment system in the dash. As of Jan 2022 Suzuki/Garmin are no longer supplying any map updates to purchase. The 2021.0 map was the last they ever offered.

The system uses an SD card to update which is read by Garmin Express as a device. The SD card contains a folder called "garmin" and within that folder are 4 subdolfers. ASR, JCV, Pnx and SID.

Also residing in the garmin folder is 7 files:
.express
GarminDevice.xml
gmapbmap.img
gmapprom.gma
gmapprom.img
gmapprom.unl
gmaptz.img

Is there a correct procedure for me to use the mapset provided here to update the device in the vehicle?

Is is as simple as just copying over the files (since most appear to match the directory structure) to their respective locations and inserting it?

I would greatly appreciate any comments before I attempt as I don't want to "brick" my car's infotainment system!

Vehicle head units don't appear to have updates every quarter but every year for obvious updating difficulty so 2021.0 is not that out of date.
Follow these [Please Register or Login to download file] and let me have a copy of the garmindevice.xml

Hi again,

Yes, I guess relatively speaking the 2021.0 is not that out of date although on the device screen it says copyright 2020 and I've always had the impression they are a year behind.
One of my main reasons is that here in my city, Christchurch New Zealand, we have had a couple of pieces of new motorway (highway) open and some significant changes. Our city suffered an earthquake in 2010 so our city has actually had a lot more changes compared to other places.... one of the changes was a few suburbs being "red zoned" (bought/paid out by the government never to be built on again) meaning people moved on to new subdivisions. In our city expansion is crazy. Since my last map set many of my friends and colleagues now live in subdivisions which are not shown on even that 2021 map...

Any help you can offer would certainly be greatly appreciated. Incidentally, I have done this process in the past... maybe 2014 or 2015 before I started buying the updates so I know the particular unit _can_ use maps sourced here. I just wanted to be sure...

Regards,

Hi All,

Trying to update nuvi 3760,
<PartNumber>006-B1101-00</PartNumber>

I have downloaded and unpacked the rar file: City_Navigator_Aus_and_NZ_NT_2022_30___HERE.gmap.rar

Do I now just copy the unpacked folder: City_Navigator_Aus_and_NZ_NT_2022_30___HERE.gmap onto the device or do I need to copy the files/folders that are inside it?

Also, I was reading on the forum that there is no need to patch this device (software/universal-firmware-patcher-for-protected-garmin-devices-t17987-495.html?hilit=2588#p176722), so I believe just the copying should work.

Do I need to delete the existing files/folders from the device?

Edit: Figured out how to do it using BaseCamp and MapInstall.
