I have another question concerning this map.
(Maybe stupid, but I've never used a map in a non-latin language.)
As far as I can see all road names and such are in Thai.
Is there a switch to show also the English version of road names and POIs?

Try and set your Garmin language to english, that usually helps

Yes,
but your device will require Patching to use Unlocked maps.
Check in your garmindevice.xml what HWID you have
<PartNumber>006-B1958-00</PartNumber>
<SoftwareVersion>310</SoftwareVersion>
<Description>nüvi 55</Description>
Then search with your HWID here
software/universal-firmware-patcher-for-protected-garmin-devices-t17987.html

Hello,

thanks a lot.
One question:
The map has included two languages (english and thai).
When I install the extracted gmapsupp.img with the tool MapSetToolkit (including cGPSMapper and GMapTool) to use the map in Mapsource or Basecamp there is only shown the thai language in the map (i.e. street or hotel names).
And there is no possibilty to change the map language in Mapsource or Basecamp.
What can i do to select englisch during the installation?
Maybe do I need another tool instead of MapSetToolkit do solve these problem?
If anybody has an idea it would helps me a lot.

Regards

Welcome to the forum, please get used to using the "Thumbs Up" button.
Just use BaseCamp with gmapsupp.img on the device, SD card or virtual device.

I use Garmin Nuvi 40.
Which files must be used?
And which folder should each file be copied into?

I searched for information and found that I have to copy it to a Micro SD Card.
Then create Folder

SD:\Garmim
SD:\Garmin\JCV
SD:\Map

1. I would like to know what these 3 files are about.
So which folder should I put it in?
gmapsupp , gmap3d , gmapdem

2. My device: Garmin Nuvi 40
Foursquare files are not supported, right?

thank you very much for advice

Your garmindevice.xml shows where to put the 2 files your device supports
SD card :
Garmin\JCV\D4517230A.jcv
Map\gmapsupp.img
<Name>SupplementalMaps</Name>
<File>
<Specification>
<Identifier>IMG</Identifier>
</Specification>
<Location>
<Path>Map</Path>
<BaseName>gmapsupp</BaseName>
<FileExtension>img</FileExtension>
<Extensions>
