I transferred the map to my Drive52 and on power up it says that "Maps are corrupt and cannot be used. Got to garmin.com/express to download the latest maps".
If I "View Map" on the GPS unit, none of the Mexico detail is there. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,

Welcome.
Assuming your Drive 52 has Lifetime map updates for US & Canada only, you are trying to get the whole of N. America ie add Mexico.
Unfortunately the latest devices are unable to use Unlocked maps.

Thanks for the bad news. I bought this thing cause it said it had "...highways, interstates, and business and residential roads in metropolitan and rural areas in the U.S. and outlying areas, specifically:

Canada
Mexico
Puerto Rico
etc. "

Mine has just US and Canada. I can't even figure out a way to buy a Mexico map from Garmin. What a joke. Thanks for your help anyway.

Mexico is not included in your subscription or sold separately by Garmin ,only North America which will cost more than the device.
US, Canada, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Bahamas (New Providence Island and Grand Bahama), French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Saint Barthélemy, and Jamaica.

Hello, I'm new here, I'm travelling to USA in couple of days (Los Angeles to San Francisco) and I need a map as my old garmin(maybe 6-8 years old) doesn't have the USA map.
I downloaded the map used the application to unlock the image, I've copied to SDcard but for some reason it didn't work. Do I do something wrong? If someone can please let me know step by step will be much appreciated. Thank you.

My device is a Garmin nuvi 2599, SD card 32gb.

Welcome to the forum.your device might require Patching to use Unlocked maps, look in your Garmin folder for your garmindevice.xml to find your HWID
<PartNumber>006-Bxxxx-00</PartNumber>
<SoftwareVersion>880</SoftwareVersion>
<Description>nüvi 2599</Description>
Once you have the 4 digits search the thread dealing with Patching to find an SD card Patch kit.
After Patching your device.
Format your SD card FAT 32 and rename & place the files as per below

Hi Guys..Need some help here as I am not sure what to do here. I am helping my GF with her old Nuvi 1350 get updated maps for US and Canada as she will be travelling. I have downloaded all of the files for it and have put it in their respective folders. However the Nuvi did not pick up Canada&Mexico. I only see "ALL US" on the unit. Is there something missing that needs to be done? Would appreciate the help.

Garmin\ASR
Garmin\JCV
Garmin\Map
Garmin\SID
Garmin\SQLite
Garmin\D9644040A.img
Garmin\gmap3d.img
Garmin\gmapsupp.img

I have tried renaming the D9644040A.img file to gmapsup1.img and the Nuvi will not pick up the additional maps.

Thanks!!

P.S. I am using a 32GB SD card.

Welcome to the forum.
Try this on your FAT 32 formatted SD card, they are the only file that are compatible with a nuvi 1350
[Please Register or Login to download file]

Garmin\JCV\D9678020A.jcv
Garmin\JCV\D9677020A.jcv
Map\gmapsup1.img
Map\gmapsupp.img

My Nuvi 1300 accepted the US(gmapsupp) udpate on an SD card with no problem.

When I add the Canada & Mexico(D9644040A) file to the card it's ignored.

Does that mean the Nuvi 1300 only accepts a single update file?

Tnx.

Thanks, placing the files in that format worked.

BTW, I tried to contribute a donation but the PayPal link does not work.

Howdy folks, I have an old Nuvi 205 that my mom has lying around. I wanted to download these maps onto her old device so she can have an updated GPS not stuck on CN 2010 maps.

How would I go about placing these maps into her GPS? Do the other files also matter for this device, and where would they go into? I have a spare 16GB microSD.

Use Garmin Express and update all the software.
Use the SD card it will be easier.
Download :
US(gmapsupp).rar
Canada & Mexico(D9644040A).rar

Format the SD card FAT 32 create a folder called Garmin.
Unpack the contents of the two archives ,change their names to gmapsupp.img & gmapsup1.img then copy to the Garmin folder.
SD card:\Garmin\gmapsupp.img
SD card:\Garmin\gmapsup1.img.

The old CN 2010 map on the device called gmapprom.img can be deleted.

Welcome to the forum.
You are the first to say they cannot download, try a VPN. Once you have downloaded the post above lay out how the files go on a SD card for your device.
