I haven't downloaded the 3 RAR files so i don't know what's in them or how they were packed [i.e. 3 files all related, or 2 files related and one separate]. Do you have a file with .img extension with size of 314,593 KB? If so, you can't load it into MapSource unless you create a simple preview map with GMapTool to put on your PC and that won't have full search functions. BaseCamp can see an IMG file on a device, virtual SD or media card provided the Ms Flag is set to '0' not '1', you can check it with GMaptool.

The gmapprom.img from Australia 2018.30 (from the mega link) did not work properly in my kenwood DNX5360 with garmin navigation. It would load sometimes and could route to favourites sometimes, but when trying to access a new destination it would say "No map date available". Also sometimes the nav application would crash and just show a black screen. Stopping the car (engine and ignition off) and starting the car again did not fix the black screen. The kenwood reset button on front fixed it enough so that the navigation app started again so I could replace the gmapprom.img.
When mounting the kenwood garmin drive on my computer after this, the gmapprom.img was a bit smaller than it was when I copied it the first time. I had ejected the drive properly when I had copied it on to there. Tried loading this gmapprom.img a few times but never worked properly. Perhaps my garmin is too old for this map? I am using the latest garmin software available but it is from May 2015 (DNX 5X60 and 6X60 software version 2.53).
the md5sum for the gmapprom.img from Australia 2018.30 that I have is: 36622ff4601b88def561dc546932be56
If that matches what other people get for the file from mega, and the file works fine in their navigation devices, then I will assume the map just does not work in my kenwood.
Perhaps it is something to do with what B1ng0 mentioned about Mapsource and MapInstall:
Maybe my old garmin likes img files made from a particular one of those and it happens to be the wrong one? So it is getting device freezes.
Anyway I ended up using the gmapprom.img from Australia 2018.20 which seems fine.

Certainly using a GMAP folder with MapSource to compile an IMG will likely give navigation errors and possible device freeze or spontaneous restarts. It's doubtful that these days anyone posting IMG mapsets in forum would have used MS over MapInstall and quite likely the IMG would rather have been obtained from a device which obtained it as a map update via GarminExpress directly from the Garmin servers.
In Post #11 you can see the GMapTool info for an original locked map from a device, it's size is 322142208 bytes. Below behind the spoiler the first info is of a full AU/NZ IMG file made from a GMAP using MapInstall and sent to a microSD. You'll see the file size is slightly smaller at 321404928 bytes however that's of no consequence in everyday use of the map data itself which is ordered differently but otherwise the same. Your IMG file should be one of those sizes and if it's not then yours is likely faulty. The second set of GMapTool info is of an IMG file made from the same GMAP folder but using MapSource. It's compiled using a quite different algorithm to the one used by MI and is likely to contain errors. The Australia 2018.30 gmapprom.img file I was trying to use is the one from the first post of this thread and obtained via the mega.nz link. It is 322142208 bytes (same size as one of the ones you mentioned), though it is unlocked according to GarmanNuvi.
I think this map might just not be compatible with my old garmin device.

Well, one thing i can say for sure is that your Kenwood is compatible with NT mapping or it wouldn't even recognize the map at all. In all probability there is some problem with the IMG file. Open it in GMapTool and see if if shows an error message: "There are errors, result is faulty" or similar when you press either Info or Details. An unlocked ING has the same file size as a locked one so you must have and original nor compiled file which should work. If it has an error message, extract it again and re-check it in GMapTool. If there's still a problem re-download from MEGA.

I obtained gmaptool to do this test you suggested with the gmapprom.img file. I don't get errors when clicking on Info or Details. Just lots of info about maps similar to what you have in your spoiler. Some differences to yours though - for example I have no 00007370 TRF. No idea if that matters - don't know what it does. Yours is a gmapsupp.img rather than a gmapprom.img which could explain the differences. Oh - also yours is a different mapset.

Mapset name is immaterial and is easily changeable anyway. File name gmapprom is usually indicating an original map from Garmin server directly via Garmin Express where as gmapsupp is a compiled file made from a GMAP folder.

When I try to update my UConnect it tells me I need a product key to unlock the maps. How can I unlock the maps for UConnect or where can I find a product key for these maps?

I've downloaded the .img file from Bam-Bam's mirror (the Mega links do NOT work) but my device (Drive Assist 50) says the map is locked.
Is there an unlocked image link please?
If anyone could confirm that I am doing this correctly, I copy the file into a directory GARMIN on the SD card then insert that into the device. I should then be able to change map via Settings etc. Have I got that correct?
Many thanks everyone - I've used the site previously (TomTom One V3) and hope you can help me again.

Unlock the lock img with Garmin Image Unlock - gimgunlock v.0.04. There are live links in both Posts 33 & 38.

Yes. Provided the map img is named correctly for your device and is unlocked and is placed correctly on the SD (This: "x:/Garmin/gmapsupp.img" will work for all devices using a media card). Ensure the map is selected [checked/enabled] in settings, it should happen automatically when device boots and finds the map on SD, then it will show automatically on the Map screen if the device receives a sat. fix in the relevant country or has it set as a simulated location.

Seeing he gets only a 'locked maps' message the device must already be patched. If it was unpatched he should get 'Maps are corrupt and cannot be used' message.

Your Basecamp will recognize the map if it is correctly uploaded on the device in memory or SD so you can check your routes there.

Sorry I wasn't clear but B1ng0 is correct - I get the "corrupt" message as the device is not patched.
I have loaded OSM maps OK (although not via SD card, had to put the device into Mass Storage mode and copy the maps to the internal Map folder) and they work OK.
I still would like to use NT mapping but since the device is under warranty still, I'll wait before patching!
