It is such a pain to download from these f#^ing shareloaders.
The question to administration of the forum:
Is it OK if I will post the link to torrent files?

Thanks alot! just a quick question, ive normally updated my nuvi1490t using gmapprom.img, but in this dowloaded file i get gmapsupp.img which there is no such file on my gps to replace. Do i rename this file to gmapprom.img and then replace in my nuvi??

cheers, in advance :-)

You can just upload gmapsupp.img into your device.
However the rule of thumb is:
gmapbmap.img - Base map for routing. Minimal details, but required for routing and other features.
gmapprom.img - Main map. Normally this is detailed map for road use, etc.
gmapsupp.img - Supplementary map.Could be anything you upload to device: Topo, Shonky, Contours, etc.
If your main map is 2011.10, 2011.20 or 2011.30, just rename your 2012.10 gmapsupp to gmapprom and override (maybe make a backup of old gmapprom to your PC first, just in case).

Thanks Paxan71, renamed the file to gmapprom and applied to device, all is good! What would we do without legends like 'HULIO' :grouphug:

No problemo, onccom.
There is also info on different filenames for Garmins, like gmapsup2.img, gmapsup3.img and so on. However I tried some of them and they did not work on my Nuvi 255W. Bugger, as I would like a freedom of using different maps. Most of the time City Nav is as good, sometimes I need Garmin Topo or Shonky. However can't have them all at once.

Paxan71, I had no idea that you can update other maps on your garmin? Is that just for different looks or other countries.

Normally, you'd only need a City Navigator maps - for usual driving in cities, towns and major highways.
If you are after outback driving, off-roading, or bushwalking/riding, then topographical and customised maps generally give you more details about bush walks, 4WD tracks, etc.
So, as I said, gmapprom is normally your City Navigator maps, gmapsupp - any other map that you have loaded into your device, direct or indirect.
