Navman 470 unlock possible??

Navman 470 unlock possible??

Postby JustJonno » Thu Mar 03, 2011 10:56 am

Hi guys! Amazing site and very useful information but I can't find the info i'm after..
I have a Mio Navman 470 that I picked up at one of those cash converter type shops but its drastically out of date and I can't register with Mio as the original owner has registered on their site with the unit's serial.

Is it possible to unlock the 470? and if so how?

Thanks for the help if any,

Jonno

@Jonno

Can you post a link to a site where we can see all your device's specifications?

EDIT: Did you look here http://www.navitotal.com/forums/showthread.php?1279-Navman-Unlock-for-most-devices

*EDIT* after booting up into my Windows partition it seems to be running a windows shell.. I have a MyDocuments folder, NAVMAN folder and a Program Files folder as well as some autorun and dll bits.. so i'm assuming that its running the Windows CE core...

To be honest, I'm not sure if there is a specific unlock for your device. Post #1 in the link I gave you links you to an unlock page. Since you believe that your device has a WinCE operating system, try the unlock using the supplied instructions in the second link. If the unlock works, post back here so we can proceed.

I looked at the page from Navman and on the picture of the software DVD you can see the word "MOOV"

Mio Moov's usually need to use this unlock

From this page Follow the instructions from the section entitled "Installation Navman F10, F15, F25, S-Series, C-Series / Mio Moov-Series"

If all is well your device will boot to a desktop...

You do this at your own risk etc...

Hiya guys.. thanks again.. I managed to get it to boot to desktop from the Moov utility and can get in.. I'm installed the TomTom software from the thread on here for WindowsCE 5/6 and it boots up and everything but for some reason it won't connect to the GPS device inbuilt. Its got an Orion Control thing on the CE control panel, it says its an Atheros chipset, but every time i try and get tom tom to talk to it and sync up, nothing happens :(

Glad to hear that you got it unlocked. TT is a difficult program for WinCE. There are alternative navs such as iGO. If you are completely locked in to TomTom I suggest that you make a post in TT general discussion.

Start Tomtom
On the map screen tap the information area where the clock is
Tap the area on the right where it says No GPS Device
Tap configure
Find Other NMEA receiver
Tap Select
Move the slider to 4800
Tap Done
Tap on SirFNavDrv if available otherwise whichever one has GPS in it
Go outside and wait for a satellite lock
Tomtom will crash
Restart Tomtom
You may need to set it up again
Wait for satellite lock
Go to page three of the main menu and exit Tomtom so it updates it's settings file on disk

Enjoy your device :)

I have a Navman M400 and occasionally the GPS device is not available if i'm starting and stopping Tomtom, iGO etc, A reboot fixes it.

You can remove unused maps from the Navman app, My M400 (SmartST_CE) with UK maps takes up about 180MB, Without maps is about 50MB
