Wanted! Stable Navcore for Go 920 with EPT working

Postby Tomtom69 » Mon Apr 30, 2012 12:08 am

Ok, the 9.430 is with the given modification really nice in X40 or X50 mode. I don't know yet about the EPT working but it seems that with X40 and X50 in model.txt there cannot be TMC support while it does work under X20, X30 and X40light. Under X40light you don't have the media-player and no TTS.
Is there any other way? I would like the modern menu, the media-player, the TTS and the TMC working. Of-course together with no concession to the EPT, ;) I hope I don't sound like a spoiled brat...

EPT only works with an original NC, does not work with a patched Navcore.
If you need TMC in X40 you can use a USB receiver - works for me just fine.
You can not have all hardware functions and a menu of your choice - it depends on the selected NC and what is possible.
The 9.4XX NC's are different from previous ones as they are bound more closely to the hardware.
See if you get better results with an older NC like the 9.160 or the 9.205.

Thank you for your reply. The Navcore 9.430 is the one Tomtom is giving me through home so I would class that as "original navcore"? I would think that they would have remembered to keep the EPT working! I will test it unless you already know it does not work...

For as far as the TMC, I must have somewhere an USB-TMC so I will see what that does. If that works with the X40 model.txt and the EPT I would be rather happy, :)

As I said original - that mean you have to use original maps too (the ones you buy from TT, not the ones you activate!).
Patching a Navcore renders EPT useless.

Just in case anyone else has this problem of finding a navcore for the 920 with EPT working and the latest maps. So far the only navcore fully functional with a 920 is the truck version 8.398 and that also works with all 895 maps and TMC receivers "out of the box". Even if you use only a car this navcore is fine.

If anyone finds another working navcore for the 920 working with EPT, TMC and latest maps, please let me know...

As posted earlier, EPT is a 920, 930, 940 & 950 only feature & not a navcore feature. Since it wasn't a very popular feature & nobody ever got lost in a tunnel, it was discontinued in all later models. I doubt many users will downgrade from 9.465, the current navcore for a 920, to 8.398 just to get EPT, but lose access to the full featured maps that require navcore 9.02X or higher.

Just a suggestion for the OP, supposedly BMWDriver's 9.051c navcore supports 900.xxxx maps and has functional EPT on the Go 920/930 (see quote below)

You'll be able to find a copy of the navcore with a bit of searching. I hope that helps.

BMWDriver wrote:Now my navcore (9.051) has the following working features:

  • Navcore 9 menu icon look
  • EPT
  • RDS-TMC Free Traffic (only using the new usb traffic antenna)
  • Brightness and Volume sensor
  • FM Transmitter (instructions and/or music)
  • BT Remote
