poi/speeedcam files are not a part of the navcore. They are contained in the map folder, only if the user has installed them. There is no script needed to remove them. Open the map folder with windows explorer and delete these files if present.

The only thing I can think of is run everything off an SD card (if you have the card slot) then just pop the card out if you're pulled over

I'm sure dsa or TTuser (if he was still around) could come up with something for you but until then I think you'll just have to plead with the flic that you're not technical enough to remove speedcams from your device.

Maybe monitor some of the french forums too as surely many will have the same problem as you?

Maybe this can help :
2801
Password : navitotal
Extract to the root of your device.
Read the readme completely and for the speed cams you might have to alter a file, but it is all documented.
You will get a new menu item "Del PIO" and it will delete all that is applied in the file "delpio.txt".
I have not tested it myself as I have no use for it but it should be able to solve your problem with a little modification here and there...

Nice one d/u! Well found/dug up from the distant past. Not tried it either but may be just exactly what he (and all the French guys) need.

If you do manage to get this to work could you please detail exactly what you did and copied to \opt\etc\DelPoi.txt for example:-

*RF-090*
*RF-110*
EOF

thanks

You enter the filename of the POI with an extension.
The example is for the SCDB cams.
So for TT cams you use the name of the corresponding OV2 file without the extension.
The EOF at the end should safe the file(s) to be restored from a backup.
As far I can test it seems not to work with V9 Navcores anymore :(

biggerdave wrote:Just tried this on 8.351

DelPoi.txt shows :-
Safety_Cam_IE_Premium
Safety_Cam_UK_Premium
EOF

Hit the DelPoi button and they do indeed disappear & a sort of soft reboot thing

Then hit Backup button but they didn't come back again and are still in opt/temp/backup as:-
Safety_Cam_IE_Premium.ov2
Safety_Cam_UK_Premium.ov2

so maybe this doesn't work on v8 or v9 navcores or just needs a tweak?

OK, after a bit more playing this DOES work on 8.351 however, before it accepts & reinstals the speedcams I needed to do a paperclip reset then (hopefully you'll get the extra-brght screen) and the wow-wow noise of them being reinstalled.
I'll have a fumble tomorrow with a v9 navcore too & revert back again then.

........and, as I couldn't wait, have done the same on a 550 running 9.058. Works fine BUT, again, you do need to reset (15 secs power button) before being able to reinstal PoI's.

So, to summarise...........yes it works on v8 & v9 BUT you do need to reset your device prior to reinstalling your speedcams.

Well at least it works and gives a little bit more security for countries where cam warnings are illegal.
However if they check and a find something to delete them and find a backup....
So it might be a good idea for those countries to change the BMP and title to something looking like it from TT.

I can't actually see how this can be policed anyway. They are not THAT clever to be able to interrogate all the different makes/models of PNDs to see if there are any speedcams installed. Statically you can only see them if you run a route demo past a known speedcam or they could connect to a PC and find them that way, but come on, surely that ain't going to happen is it?
And, as d/u suggested, it may be easier just to rename them to "TomTom PoI" or something totally innocent like that.
