Newbie looking for help - Need a navcore for Tom Tom XL 30 (

Postby wmguk » Sun Sep 08, 2013 9:41 pm

Hey,

There is a .meta.dct file included but I will delete it, then run FastActivate again :) - I was using the latest version of FastActivate so I'm hoping it'll be ok :)

I've just done as above, This is the output:

..:: FastActivate 07/09/2013 ::..
________________________________________________________________________________

Voice(s):
Complete Map(s):
United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland-817.meta => .dct OK
Incomplete Map(s):
Fuel prices:
Speed cameras:
________________________________________________________________________________

BIF File......F:\TTGO.BIF
KeyGen Type...8
Device Name...TomTom XL
Application...9510
Bootloader....55019
DeviceID......XXXXXXXXXXX
Storage.......Size 978MB, Free 669MB

Press any key to continue . . .

Restart the satnav, and I get:

Problem with map
You cannot use this map on this device:
United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland-817

[OK]

Just to confirm I've checked the compatibility and it shows that the maps UK and ROI 915.5074 work with NC 9.510 so I just cannot understand why its failing to authorise the map.

I deleted the dct file, then reactivated it using FastActivate-07-09-2013 but its still showing the error message. I've removed the UK 915 maps and I'm now trying the autoinstaller version of 910.4892

Guys,

What am I missing with this? I've downloaded the NC, installed it fine (so it seems) then installed the maps but it says

Problem with map
You cannot use this map on this device:
United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland-817

[OK]

I just dont see what I'm doing wrong.

What files are there on the TT that I can delete - sort of like a fresh install?

1. You cannot use this map on this device:

I just dont see what I'm doing wrong.

2. What files are there on the TT that I can delete - sort of like a fresh install?

1. This is the common message when a map is not patched. Confirm that your map is in a single folder & not in a folder within a folder.
2. None. The navcore isn't your issue.

Let's get a fresh look at your specs. Run TomTom Current Configuration {13.11.2011} & post the results.

just a quick one.

Cant seem to find any folder called maps on my tomtom. I did check with the backed up files through explorer and there was no folder by name maps either.

As such, i keep getting the "you cannot use this map....." error

:7::7:

Please advice

1. When a map is unzipped, a folder is created using the map name as the folder title.
2. This is the classic message when a map is not patched. look for a .meta.dct file in the folder containing the map, to confirm that the map is or isn't patched.

Update:

I followed the instructions given on the Automatic Installer & Patcher thread, everything worked fine, no errors were reported.

i downloaded the ; United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_915_5106 with its corresponding meta and let the installer do it's work...

still no luck :(

Ok, just to clarify:
My Navcores are already patched and do not need further patching, same if a SE ttstem is used.
A map is activated if FastActivate had generated a .dct file with the name of the mapinside the map folder - however if the meta code is incorrect it won't work.
Also when encountering problems it makes sense to delete all .dct files from the device before trying to activate the map again - reason is that already present DCT files are not created new, so if the first DCT was not correct you only get a correct one after deleting the old.
The files for the map are usually located in a folder with a corresponding name - in the map files are inside another sub folder it won't work.
If in doubt do a clean install:
Make a proper backup using Windows Explorer, delete all files from the device except your ttgo.bif,
install Navcore and map,
use FastActivate for the rest.

Followed the last set of instructions, working now. Yet to figure out how to get the voices to work.

I might just copy back the voices folder from the backup to the root folder

Thanks very much, 9 hours well spent on learning something new

Forever grateful

Cheers
