What size SD card are you using? What navcore & map do you have on the card?

I found the problem when you want the place the files in the root of your tomtom then you need the sd card pluged in your TomTom then only works, when you use a card reader then does it not work and then the TomTom freezes

I am an newbie sorry for this I hope in the future that I will learn more about the TomToms.

It appears that your real problem is that a One XL can not use the internal memory & external memory at the same time, like a 950 can. You must put a complete setup (navcore & map) on the internal and run it, or you must put a complete setup (navcore & map) on your SDHC card and run it.
