NavCore 9 for Go300 - Please Help

Hello,

Could you please help me a bit.

I want to use newer maps on my Go300 but can't use them because my NavCore is not new enough (probably APP 8.351 if i'm correct about that)

Is it advisable to upgrade to NavCore 9, i found this one :

Navcore 9.401.1 GO

Is that the correct one to use ?
How do i get it in the device ?
Can i use Europe 970.7492 than ?

I currently have :

Appl : 8.351
System : 315187
GPS : 1.20
Boot : 5.5022
Using v885 maps as latest useable map

Please guide me in the right direction.

No, you don't have to use a different navcore to run the latest maps as TomTom produce maps for all navcores.

If you look at the compatibility chart at the top of post #02 here you can see that for yourself.

You could use Europe 970.7492 with your current navcore IF it had a meta code released already, but it doesn't so you'd be wasting your time.

You'd be better off going with Europe 970.7490 which is also compatible with your current navcore and does have meta data released and so will activate with no problems.

Let's keep this real simple.
Keep your 8.351 navcore, FOR NOW.
Download and unzip Europe 970.7467. It has all of the new features that your 300 can use. It is 2.65GB in size, so you will need at least a 4GB SDHC card.
Remove the old map folder.
Copy in the new map folder
Run FastActivate.exe Options 2 & 3 per instructions, to patch the new map & 8.351 navcore.
Disconnect & reboot. DONE.

Thanks for the fast replies, i will work with the info right away. I will not change my NavCore.

Did i assume right that APLL. 8.351 is my NavCore ?

Can i download 'Navcore 9.401.1 GO' for future usage and stash it on my hdd or is it not the right NavCore ?

Why is it that map 'Western_Europe_945_6245' for which i created a 'Western_Europe-100309.meta.dct' using the Keygen that i used with the older maps (v8) isn't recognized by my Go300.

What have i done wrong with that ?

Will that map work if i use the 'Latest-FastActivate' on it ?

I have no idea if the NavCore is already Patched or not, i have not used 'FastActivate' before so i think it is NOT Patched.

2. Yes, you can if you want but there are better alternatives
3. Because that map isn't compatible with your navcore

5. No, see answer no. 3
6. Ok, it's not a problem. Download either Europe 970.7490 or 970.7467 as they are the latest series maps albeit with different features. See the compatibility chart for further details. FastActivate will activate either of those maps and patch your navcore with no problems.

Thank you, i'm beginning to understand the way the chart works.
All 970.7490 maps will work on my device without changing the NavCore, which i prefer.
But why will the older 945.6245 map of WesternEurope never work on my Go300 ? Is there a chart for the 945 series too ?

Sorry for my many questions but i just like to know how and why thing work or doesn't work on my TomTom.

I go for the 970.7490 maps right now and see how things work out but i expect them to work just fine after all info received from here.

EDIT : Just forgot to ask, which NavCore should i get to use for future upgrade (instead of the one i found) ?

The NC8351 is for this kind of map allright. If you are not using the Go 300 in France you can use this navcore for years.

1. Because that map isn't compatible with your navcore. You can see for yourself in the [Please Register or Login to download file]
2. Ok, yes they will
3. NC 9.510 but you'll need one with an inbuilt swap file as your device only has 32MB RAM which is not enough to run fully featured maps successfully

It would be a good idea to just get this one updated for now but you can always put another SD card in later if you want to experiment with different NC's

Have you got a logical reason for downloading the no features 970.7490 map, instead of the full featured, for your device, 970.7467 map, that I gave you in post 3??
Had you followed the instructions in post 3, you would have had a nice updated GO 300, over 24 hours ago.
