Navcore 9.510 with auto-power-on

Tue Jul 30, 2013 1:11 am

Tomtom does not seem to care about the endless requests in their own support forum.
But we are lucky as there are still users out there working on improovements.
Although I don't think an automatic power on is a good thing (people leave the TT on the windscreen and wonder why someone breaks into the car),
you always nagged that this feature is a must have.
KEESSIE74 had the same thought and implemented the power on function into a modified kernel.
He also changed the names of the Live models so they show their full name now.
Any credits for these mods go to KEESSIE74 and the ongoing support of DSA8310!

Navcore used and changes done to it:
I used the modified kernel on the current 9.510 Navcore.
Mods from side include :
Custom startup and shutdown images for the widescreen models.
TMC fix included so your RDS receiver will work.
English Kate Loquendo voice with personal mods so you have a working TTS configuration.
Other minor things ;)

How to use it and how does it work??
1: This kernel mod is still considered to be experimental, so it might not work on all models and I need your feedback!
So please, don't just leech it, report back how it performs!
2: Best way to install is on an empty device after making a backup.
3: Download the EXE and start it.
4: Read the instructions within the installer carefully and follow them.
5: Enjoy and report back.

This thread will remain closed for postings, so please leave your feedback in the discussion thread

Note to people spreading the Navcore elsewhere:
Please use my links until a final release is posted by me.
We need to know the downloads to properly judge the received feedback!
If you post it in other forums that I don't visit, please go back to the discussion thread and leave the combined feedback in short form.
Once the final release is out please use your own uploads and keep them alive.

Just in the process of testing this new core on my Go 550 Live and so far it looks good. I have set the skin to EMU x50. Voices work OK although I have had trouble getting LIVE services through the built in phone (error 148) but that might be a problem at Tom Ton's end.

Is there a way of changing the shutdown picture and sounds? I quite like the "I'll be back" sound bite but the picture is inappropriate for those of us who have children in the car. Can I change the picture to the normal anti-theft warning but keep the sound bite?

And actually I don't really need a Tom Tom drums sound everytime it powers up either.

Great job though, thanks.

Edited to say I have found the shutdown picture in the root directory as antitheft.bmp so I copied over the old version.

1. There isn't anything that you can do about this.
2. FFR, you can change the Start-up & Shutdown Images & Sounds in TT Home, Add Traffic, Voices and other services, Images and Icons, & Sounds.

BTW, an antitheft.bmp is for small screen units. For your 550 look for an antitheftW.bmp version. W = for a wide screen.

tried this one on my tomtom start. Start up sound is there but not the other one. Need some help if you could please.

On some devices and emulations you simply won't get those sounds.

it works perfectly on my Tomtom Go 740 Live. I waited a long time option on / off and it's great.

Thank you very much.:041:

So thought I will give this a go. Formatted my TT and made a clean install. The bluetooth option did not work, obviously as my TT does not support bluetooth.
Everything else that should work did except for the voices. None of them would work, though the startup drums and shutdown "I'll be back" worked. Below is my config as I had to revert back to it which is a real pitty.

1. These were your first 2 mistakes.
2. Now do an overwrite installation.

I am trying to download the files are they hosted anywhere else I can get them

Links are online and working, so without any info on the problem I would say all is fine...

I get redirected to link.in and it states that the visitor password is incorrect. I even joined the link.in to see if that fixes it but it hasn't.

Well if you get to link.in than you clicked on an ad and not on the link...
If in doubt use Jdownloader...
