Re: Navcore 9.510

Western_europe_1GB is bigger that 1 GB... So surely too big for your One 3rd edition.

Coverage of a country is the same in every map (although there are a few maps which only have 'connecting roads' for a particular country) only the more advanced features differ. Not per se a problem.

You don't have to post screenshots. Just make sure a .dct is created and it should work. Make sure a map is in a folder (e.g. X:\Europe_west) in the root of the TT. NOT in a sub map ((e.g. X:\Europe_west\Europe_west)

Okay, so Western_Europe_1GB is not an option anymore. That's remarkable since I do have this version in my back up. This map is outdated, that's why I wanted a newer map. It is a pity that it's not possible to choose the same area. But I can live with the more limited coverage of Europe_1GB_West.

Back to the problems. I took a look in the folder of the map. I made sure that .dct files were made for the map and the speedcams. Example: 'Europe_1GB_West-100877.meta.dct'. Also I checked if the folder was in the root or a submap. It was in the root. The only map within the map folder is called 'brand'. That's not a problem right?

I restarted my TT, but still the same error... :bs_quesexclaim:

Maps grow each quarter, Western has grown too much.
Okay, operate your device in TTH and see if it loads the map.
Are you sure you don't have an old .data file in the root of your device that doesn't belong to NC 9.510? Check the date if necessary.

If that doesn't work you should run ClearFlash a couple of times.

I tried to operate my TT in TTH -> still the same error.
I did run Clear Flash four times -> still same error.

I looked for old .data files in the root. Maybe you mean the .dat files? Or do you mean the Data. files (like data.chk)? Either way, the dates from these files are from april 2013, like more files.
Before using the 9.510s installer, I cleared the whole root (crtl + a > delete). Then I placed the installer (the .rar file) in the root and started it. Then I installed the 32 mb version succesfully according to the program. So I guess all visible files are created by that installation?

I could do it all again. It's a pain in the ass though, since it takes a hour now before the files get transfered to the TT. Maybe that's different now after the usage of Clear Flash.

What's your advice? I want to thank you for your patience by the way :023:

edit: I formatted my TT (FAT). Let's start over..
I could just back up with the old navcore (8.010) and switch the newer map folder with the old one, patch and everything will work too, right? But will future maps keep working with this old navcore? I think it might be better to upgrade now, since I will have to eventually (?).

No, the original NC will still be able to run new maps. But only the maps with basic features.
But if you are not using advanced maps which do fit on your 1 GB device you will not need the modded 9.510 NC.
Try to format fat32, not fat.

Thanks for your reply. I formatted fat32 and downloaded central_europe_west map. I placed these replaced the back up to my TT and switched the central_europe_west map with the old map. I also added the speedcams. I restarted my TT and connected it to my pc again. Placed fastactivate in the root and did the patch (1-3). All .dct files were created succesfully except the one for the map. In the log it said:

Incomplete map(s): Central_europe_west_975_7748.meta .dct error

I don't understand why the map is qualified as 'incomplete'. Maybe something about the meta code?

Anyway, I downloaded Europe_1gb_north which has better coverage for my needs. I will try that with nc 8.010.

Central_Europe_West has got no available meta code so it leads to a meta.dct error. Completely normal. Always check this.

I finally managed to get it working. I had to delete everything from my TT. Then I updated my navcore with TT home. Then I added the map and speedcams from this forum. Patched everything with fastactivate.

It seems to work, but when I create a demo with a route where I'd expect a lot of speedcams, I don't hear and see the alerts for the speedcams. Of course, it could be that there aren't any speedcams anymore (which is hard to believe), but I still wonder if these speedcams are installed correctly. Is there any way to check this? Or maybe I need to download other speedcams, which are more up to date?

Thanks for your help.

The speed cam files need to be placed in the map folder. Installing (available) premium files will do and need to be patched via FA.

You've got to look into TomTom Services in the main menu to confirm if alerts are activated.

Thanks for your help. I suppose I did manage to install the speedcams from this forum, since I could see a couple of speedcams on the demo routes. But a lot were not visible.

I installed some other - probably homemade - speedcams which get presented as POI. These speedcams didn't need to be activated, I guess. When I create a demoroute, then a lot more speedcams became visible on my route.

I wonder if I failed to install the TT speedcams properly or the TT speedcams (Safety_Cam_NL_Premium) are just not complete.

Edit: I used fastactivate again (with both kind of speedcams in my map folder). The dct files for the Safety_Cam_XX_Premium files were created succesfully. No .dct files were created for the POI speedcams. Demoroute still got the same result..

Speedcams TT and others eg SCDB
should be placed in the country map (bnl, Europe, etc.)

speedcam TT is an ov2 file.

When the speedcam is activated, you also have a file dct

So if they are activated you have a
ov2 file
dct file

Often you see there is a ver file to but it is not necessary
The two mentioned files are enough

Default values speedcams TT are efficient enough.

But after activation, you can set the speedcams TT to your own preference as followed

The icon Live Services (TomTom Services o.i.d)
Speed camera,s
Change warning preferences
==========================
If you see the speed cam by the POI (Show POI on map) the speed cams are not activated.
==========================
Non Tomtom speedcames consist

ov2 file
bmp file

sometimes an ogg file

These speed cams don,t need activation.

You add them as Poi
Default values are efficient enough.

You can set the speedcams to your own preference.
Your own sound and warning time in seconds instead of distance(TT).

Test the speedcams with Demo Route (Prepare Route A/B)
From
Bethnal Green
Bethnal green road 5
To
Bexley
North Cray Road 4

Tomtomstarte,
Everything in your post 145, that you have concerns with, are functioning correctly.
To confirm the cams are functioning, create a route, where you know you will be going past a camera (Safety camera warnings are now only given when relevant and on the same side of the road). In Route Summary, do a Demo of the route. If the camera shows up on the Demo, VOILA!!

Either FAT OR FAT32 formats are acceptable.

I ageee, but fat32 is a better of disk and file management.

I managed to get everything working with navcore 8.010 (from TT home) and the TT speedcams. It seems that I did install it correctly, since I can see the streetlights symbols and hear the connected sounds during the demo route. So I turned the non-TT speedcams off in the POI settings. I couldn't try holyheads demoroute, since I didn't install the UK map (europe_1gb_north).

It's too bad that I wasn't able to install a newer navcore, but it's working great as it is.

I want to thank all of you, and especially Razorblatter, for your great help.

----- New case -----

Right now I am trying to update my own TT start (64 mb RAM). 2 years ago I installed navcore 9.510 on this device. I actually forgot how I installed this (installer or just simple copy/paste?). Anyway, it's working great. I just need to know something about the patchsoftware that I used. I see that I left this/these program(s) in the root of my TT. I see, amongst other things, Fast_tools_lite and DSA-EMulation. I seems that I used fast_tools_lite for the activation. I don't know the function of DSA-EMulation.

Now I try to update a newer map and speedcams. The navcore can stay the same.
Can I use Fast_tools_lite again for all these or would it be better to use Fastactivate? And if I use fastactivate, while I used Fast_tools_lite before, do I need to patch the navcore again?
