Help with Tomtom Rider 3 Navcores

Mon Apr 02, 2012 8:07 am

Dear Community

I installed successfully the original Navcore 9.205 on my Tomtom rider 3. Unfortunately this Navcore seems to have issues with the Scala Rider Teamset pro.
During an Intercom-Talk with the Passenger you can't hear the Navigation-Command
In Navcore 9.201 an Intercom Talk was canceled by the TomTom Rider 3 to say the direction.

Thats why i reverted to Navcore 9.201. Scala Rider works perfect with this one but the Rider 3 crashes whenever I klick on "Scroll Map"/Karte rollen".
Is this a Navcore issue or is it my fault?
Are there some special Versions of this Navcore wich work? I found a link to the Navcore 9.201 Extra Edition. Unfortunately it is down!!!

Thanks for your help

There was never much feedback in regards to the scala, except for the fact that it won't work with non-Rider Navcore.
But I can not tell if these changes are on purpose or maybe a glitch from TT, maybe a support request to TT would help you to find out for sure.
Where did you find the link for the 9.201 Extra Edition?
I might be able to create a new 9.201 if the above is not working for you either.

Those links are just leading to an advertisement page!! With a very bad reputation according to "Trust The Web"
I am from Switzerland. I do not know if this has an affect....

Unfortuantely this one is not working.
I start hating TomTom Software
Is there any other Navigation-Hardware that is known to work with Scala Rider?

Probably someone created a Version 9.201 which does not crash when touching on Scroll Map

What do you mean by "not working"? Please be a bit more specific otherwise it is impossible to help.
The reported links are corrected now and working.
They were pointing to the old MU and noone noticed that need to be corrected, shows that for many months noone tried to download them.

I am sorry.
The link is working without a problem. I meant the Navcore 9.205 itself.
Same Issues as described above. During an Intercom-Communication with your passenger you can't hear your Rider 3
With Navcore 9.201 it used to cancel the intercom-Communication, so that you can hear the Rider

Where did you get the original Navcore 9.205?

I deleted all files on the Internal SD Card and connected it to TomTom Home
TomTom Home downloaded and installed the original Navcore 9.205.

So is it working now?
Have you checked the 9.201 I uploaded for you?

Remove 9.205. Copy your 9.201 onto the card. Reload 9.205 to the card overwriting the common files. Load the card to the unit & reboot.

@Downunder: Both links are working like a charm.
I am going to test both Navcores as soon as I can. Probably this evening....

I tested the Navcores yesterday evening.
I managed to get the Navcore 9.205 working with the Scala Rider now unlike others...

There seem to be some Bluetooth issues with this Navcore so after upgrading the Navcore i had to reset all TomTom Rider Settings.
Last Button in the Menu... Restore to Factory Defaults. I always thought that this is done automatically after wiping the whole Internal SD-Card. Unfortunately we have to do it.

The Scala Rider Teamset Pro only works when the Pairing is done in this order: (Pairing has only to be done once)

1. First Pair the two Headsets in Intercom-Pairing-Mode.
2. Pair your Rider 3 and your First Headset. (The second Headset has to be activated during this time) (Don't ask me why)
3. Pair your Mobile phone to your rider while the First and the Second Headset are activated and connected.

If it is done this way it seems to work. Just after shutting down the Rider 3 it is a little bit of a hassle.

1. Activate both Headset and your Rider 3
2. Wait until it prperly reconnects automatically
3. When it shows headset connected your not yet ready to go..
4. Click ones on your headset on the CTRL-Button. You should hear a Voice Command and see the Volume Control on the Rider 3
If the volume Control-Buttons are not appearing on the Rider 3 the Headset isn't properly connected, no matter what the rider 3 said before. In this case click again in The Menu on "Connect to Headset" and repeat this step.

5. Start an Intercom-Talk by clicking on the Intercom-Control-Button
6. Tap on the Rider 3 on the Time in the corner down left while talking. If it properly disconnects the Intercom-Talk and you can hear your Rider 3 then all works well.

If you do it in another way The Rider 3 won't cancel an InterCom Communication with the Passenger and you won't hear the Navigation until you stop talking.

Can anyone else confirm that this is working for this Headset?

Note this steps are down within seconds if you know how to do it.... So it is definitly a workaround
I tested different methods for more than 10 hours. Because it worked sometimes and sometimes not.
Now it works everytime I start my rider 3 I'm just following the 6 Steps above.

Step 4 is the most important. It shows that the headset has now control over the Rider 3

Tested 30 times without a Problem
