Go 730 Navcore and Europe map with sd card

Maybe you are looking at the wrong spot on the display?
On my 730 with the 9.500NC the speedcams show on the left of the screen, right under the quick menu button.
An arrow in the pic show on which side of the road the cam is located.

No idea, but the problem is only in France, when you drive into Germany, Belgium etc. the various databases work fine. As soon as you revert back to NC9401 it all works fine.
As I say, I am not the only one with the problem, it is well documented in France.

New Danger Zones service in France
What do I need to do?
If you have a device that is supported, you need to connect your navigation device to [Please Register or Login to download file] or [Please Register or Login to download file] and do the following:
  • Download the new update that activates French Danger Zones on your navigation device. [ show me how... ]
  • Download the one-time free download of a French Danger Zones file. This is for everyone even if you don’t have a subscription to the Speed Camera service. [ show me how... ]
How does it work?
  • In France, all types of speed camera locations and accident black spots are now reported using a new service: Danger Zones
  • Specific locations are not available and a Danger Zone icon is shown instead.
  • The length of the zone depends on the road type at the current location and can be 300m/2000m/4000m.
  • In future, Danger Zones provided by the French government (Zones de Vigilance Accrue) will be included in our database as they become available.
Useful tips
  • The only speed limit indicated is the one from your map. It can be incorrect if the map is too old and needs updating.
  • If several cameras are close to each other, the warning can be merged in a single longer zone.
  • The reporting of Danger Zones is still possible and legal but the location will be randomised for all users. TomTom appreciates the continued community-based reporting.
  • Danger Zones are only available when driving in France. The TomTom Speed Camera service works as normal outside of French borders. This applies if a route goes across French borders.
  • If you drive without a route planned, the performance of the Danger Zone alerts may decrease.
  • The service has been renamed to Danger Zones in the Services menu on your device. However until your device has a GPS fix and knows it is in France, the menu may still refer to Speed Cameras.

Like other French users, I am well aware what TomTom say. But most of us don't use the TomTom danger zone database, as it has a huge amount of cameras missing. In France we use the TomTomMax danger zone (free) database or the SCDB danger zone (paid for) database.
I can see you don't believe me but all I can say, try it yourself when you are in France or have a look on the French forums like the customer support forum from TomTomMax...

Third party cams are always presented in the form of normal POI's.
Due to that fact they have to show up when selected and give a warning if a sound is assigned.
Only possibility that I could think of is that TT does not block the cams you copied onto the device but in fact the filenames used.
The locations of cams vary with the releases, but the filenames stay the same.
That would mean if the GPS coordinates were used to block the cam poi new cams (or dummy cams you added in front of your house) would still show.
Maybe it is worth a test:
Rename the cam files and corresponding images and use a weird name like "smile".
Since I don't speak french and am too lazy to download a french map and try... ;)
Maybe you check it out and report back? :)

When this became a problem I tried everything. From renaming the ov2, ogg etc. files to reverting back to old maps. I ended up buying a Garmin because of it.
I became aware as a friend (here in France) who hadn't updated his 720 for a while said he hadn't got any problems. Then a few TomTomMax users reported the same and it was determined that TomTom's navcores after 9401 would not give a poi warning anywhere near a danger zone.

Thanks :-) I am just trying to be helpful to people who travel to France and want to be well covered. The TomTom danger zone database really is bad compared to 3rd party offerings. And if you don't read French when researching it is difficult to determine why poi warnings are not working anymore. Believe me, I was tearing my hair out :-)
But the solution is quite simple, roll back to NC 9401 and all is fine...
