Unlock functions in Mio Spirit 680

Hi everyone.
I've Mio spirit 680 that has same hardware of mio spirit 685 but there's a great difference in software.
- in 680 I can't create an itinerary from a place B to C if i'm in a place A.
- Main Menu is different: there's not a sub-menu with icons such as "my itinerary" (the button with an arrow)
- If I press on the map during a trip, I've not buttons to add a "stop".
- When it calculate the itinerary don't show me the options in 4 colours but I have to select the type of trip before.

I've sensation that it's only a "lock" of software. Is it possible to unlock it? I like mio software, I've new maps and I don't want to change it... I only like to calculate itinerary offline and have the complete software version if it's possible.

As far as i'm aware the Mio Spirit software hasn't been unlocked yet, so it will only run on the device it was originally installed on.

But your device can be unlocked to run other navigation software.

oh, thanks... what's the best program to unlock mio spirit 680 (it has internal flash) ? I'm not interested to have applications on the device, but only to have a good navigation software with new maps

I've never personally unlocked one of these devices, but from searching around they seem to be similar to other Spirit/Moov devices where the device looks for a executable in the flash drive and if available, it runs it.

Usually it is...
\My Flash Disk\Default\Auto.exe My Flash Disk is what Windows CE calls the internal flash drive.

So that means you just make a folder called Default in the root of the drive and rename the unlock file to Auto.exe

If that doesn't work there is a file called app_startup.txt that contains lines similar to these...

sdcard_runExecutable(SmartST_CE - Run()): CreateProcess(\Storage card\TATA_400A\auto.exe) failed, error 2
sdcard_runExecutable(SmartST_CE - Run()): CreateProcess(\Storage card\Default\auto.exe) failed, error 2

This tells you what file it tries to run.

I see a lot of users having success with this unlock.

As always with these devices there is a risk of permanent damage if you get this wrong so read everything twice and triple check everything you do.

iGO Primo has the features you are looking for and runs very nicely on Mio devices.
